Well, it doesn't here. I just disabled plasma-pa, the icon disappeared and after pressing volume up it still pops up.

Try removing the global shortcut for increasing/decreasing the volume in systemsettings

It seems that in my case, I needed to restart plasmashell, after that it's gone. Might try that as well, Salkay.

Then don't call it kmix, plasma-pa has nothing to do with kmix.
Ah yes, sorry. I was doing that thing where people call the Microsoft Surface an "iPad".
You can disable it in the system tray settings, like any other applet.

I also prefer to keep kmix, as it offers better volume control, but unticking the option for plasma-pa audio left me without control of volume with fn-keys, is there a way to get it back (controlling kmix with it, as I was doing before the last upgrade)?

You probably have to re-map the shortcuts.

Update: cliking kmix > configure channel > general > show on screen display has solved my issue. Now the button are back to work.
It was probably a solution for others in this thread having the issue of two distinct OSD.
