They made some fixes. But not at all. Because see here https://grsecurity.net/changelog-test.txt for "commit 3abe24117389419654da44adc87a9a03ad7e3f38":

commit 3abe24117389419654da44adc87a9a03ad7e3f38
Author: Brad Spengler <spender@grsecurity.net>
Date:   Tue Oct 20 08:08:32 2015 -0400

    Add a new config option from Emese to allow SIZE_OVERFLOW to be enabled
    while having it not kill the userland process in an overflow condition.
    This will help us obtain reports over the next few weeks while not making
    some percentage of users' machines unusable.

    To enable this option, set CONFIG_PAX_SIZE_OVERFLOW_DISABLE_KILL=y in .config

Because of that, system may not freeze, but will log "PAX: size overflow" messages to dmesg.

So, if you want to and can help to enhance Grsecurity Project - grep your dmesg for "PAX" messages.

$ sudo dmesg | grep PAX

If you have messages like or similar with PAX named:

PAX: size overflow detected in function...

- send your log here: https://forums.grsecurity.net/viewforum.php?f=3

Together patches will be released faster and made better.

I'll test this new kernel.

Re: linux-grsec 4.2.3.201510161817-1 boot hangs on loading initramfs

It boots up but I get this:

[amarildo@amarildo ~]$ journalctl | grep "nvidia"
Out 22 01:05:51 amarildo kernel: PAX: size overflow detected in function nv_alloc_rx_optimized drivers/net/ethernet/nvidia/forcedeth.c:1870 cicus.620_147 max, count: 23, decl: buflow; num: 0; context: ring_desc_ex;
Out 22 01:05:52 amarildo kernel: PAX: size overflow detected in function nv_alloc_rx_optimized drivers/net/ethernet/nvidia/forcedeth.c:991 cicus.621_148 max, count: 27, decl: buflow; num: 0; context: ring_desc_ex;
Out 22 01:05:52 amarildo kernel: PAX: size overflow detected in function nv_alloc_rx_optimized drivers/net/ethernet/nvidia/forcedeth.c:1870 cicus.620_147 max, count: 23, decl: buflow; num: 0; context: ring_desc_ex;
[amarildo@amarildo ~]$

It seems to be working fine, I guess, besides these messages.

Huh.  I'm not getting any such messages from PAX, so that's good.  My dmesg is, however, inundated with messages of the form:

[ 1018.335361] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: Invalid HT rate index 2568

I guess maybe I'll be starting my own topic if I can't figure it out....

linux-grsec is yet again posing problems. Does anyone know which versions works?

Re: linux-grsec 4.2.3.201510161817-1 boot hangs on loading initramfs

Like this:

Dec 08 10:57:50 amarildo kernel: PAX: size overflow detected in function nv_alloc_rx_optimized drivers/net/ethernet/nvidia/forcedeth.c:1870 cicus.628_147 max, count: 23, decl: buflow; num: 0; context: ring_desc_ex;

I'll report it to grsecurity.

I found a Kernel that works for me: 4.2.6.201511092040-1
