All the numbers look good... except for the power numbers! Did you try running something like TLP to lower power consumption, and see if that works? It's as easy as installing it and enabling the service, nothing else is necessary.

To no avail. I still cannot get firefox, or hexchat to load anything properly from the net.
People on #archlinux IRC told me to use a cached download (pacman -Su) to upgrade back to 4.10.8-1 (luckly I had my old X200 laying around to use weechat with ).
What's odd is sometimes it'll appear that the wifi is on and connected to my AP, but then the ping is anywhere from 600ms to over 1000ms.
Websites, other things such as hexchat, and skype just won't load. Same with my LAN samba box, my XPS just can't load or ping to it reliably. SSH sessions fail etc.
Other times, like these past two days, wireless just doesn't work at all. Since there is no ethernet port, I haven't been able to use my XPS at all for work.
Any recommendations? Maybe I should replace the nic? Will it void the warranty?
Thank you for all your contributions on here OP, fingers crossed nobody else gets these issues with broadcom dell nics.
if god is real may he smite broadcom for their drivers

Opening the laptop and replacing the crappy wireless card that's inside does NOT void your warranty.

Hi archerious, did you end up replacing your wifi? If not, did you try going back to a 4.9 kernel? I started having intermittent issues with wifi with once I had upgraded to 4.10. I tried a couple of different version of the 4.10 kernels before going back to 4.9.11 and everything is working good again. Didn't know if others with this laptop with the stock wifi module were having the same issues. I might just wait for 4.11 before giving it a go again and really troubleshooting.

Hi. Did a fresh install of Archlinux together with KDE5 and I'm having issues with my WD15 docking station that's hooked up to two external monitors. Despite setting KDE to not suspend when docked (it even acknowledges this) my two screens disconnect once I close the laptop lid. However I don't think it's actually suspending. I also turned off USB autosuspend via TLP thinking this might help, but to no result. Tips on where I can look next?

Does anyone know if AD2P bluetooth performance is better with an Intel wifi card compared with the default broadcom, under Linux at least? Using the Dell1830 wifi card with a BT headset is almost impossible on my 9550.

In my experience the best blutooth perfrmance with AD2P is with Killer 1535 card - but ufortunately for me it eats a lot of battery (probably the drivers or firmware are the cause if it). So I've switched to 8265 - now my system is 95% in PC8 at idle in comparison of 60% with Killer but bluetooth is not so good.

You did not get a chance to compare with the 1830, did you?
AD2P playback is smooth, without hisses, and without disconnections within a few meters, with the Intel?

No, I have 9350 so I had compared 1820, 8265 and Killer. Intel A2DP playback is not smooth - radio channel is poor so whenever you go few meetes away it can start skipping. No complete disconection, but it skips music. And what is driving me mad when the laptop is in backpack the body shields the bluetooth antenna from earphones and it start also skipping. The only adapter that did not had this backpack issue was killer - they have installed radio channel amplifiers there so the range of both wifi and bluetooth are better. But the power management of that card is much worse than intel.

If I would compare 1820, 8265 and killer in bluetooth quality 1820 is the worst, intel in the middle killer the best. But I've just checked the 9550 setup - looks like there are 3 antennas inside, so 3 antenna intel might have better quality in buetooth as well.

There is no modern 3-antenna Intel card unfortunately. Only some business-centered models.

Anyone having troubles with suspend using kernel 4.12.8?
It looks like sometimes the laptop will abruptly poweroff instead of suspending, so it will boot from scratch when unsuspended.

I'd like to underline the fact that, if you use IntelXTU under Windows, the undervolt is kept under Linux too.
