OK for starters your blog is fucked and I can't read any entries.
Just noticed that too. Fixed now.
Also, if you want a redesign it's better to say so somewhere visible, rather than in just one obscure topic that gets lost in the mists of the announcements forum. I mean, seriously, I honestly didn't know about the desire for a redesign.
Note the date. That was March 15th. It got lost because interest was lost. It was in the top 3 for some time.
There was also a forum thread, as cactus pointed out, lots of discussion on irc (try the !reredesign factoid), and even a ML thread, which I could dig up if you'd like.
My comment was really nothing about you... I seriously had about 10 people say "I'll get you a design this weekend" and some talk for about a week or so, then nothing.

For all your attemps to create a better design: forget the concentration on i686 architecture as we have two ports we will have to bring up on the frontpage as well.
I'd prefer the design from www.archlinuxppc.org! A cms could give the power and features we will need in the future!

Wtf kind of fascist website is that?!
We see you're using Internet Explorer. Try Firefox, you'll like it better.
Then it fucks up the layout with a big ass "get Firefox" banner. That's just gay!

Maybe some Joomla defaults?
Even if I set my Opera to identify as IE, i can use the site wuthout being bothered
Bt: I like the style of archlinuxppc.org

Another one: http://alpha.hostingbeyond.co.uk/~rezza/arch_redesign3/
A bit of a change as far as colours go, but the layout is very similar to the current page.

Very nice rezza! I like the layout, but think the dark doesn't really fit with Arch's image. Very clean though. I would love to see something a little less plain on the footer copyright stuff from all of these designs. Glad to see people making their ideas a reality!

Yes the layout of #3 is very nice. I dont know about the dark colours though.
Offline
Yeah same here - it was too dark for my tastes...

I can't stand layout 3, layout 2 is much better. Maybe layout 3 can be used for text browsers and we can use graphics as the main page.

Layout 3 is too dark and it looks like everyhing just hung in the air. Arch is light, but this looks more like some patchwork
Layout 2 is really cool, although (see my previous post).
Offline
Yeah, layout 2 is still the best. I agree with mezoko's point / post.

Wow! 3rd one is really cool! Maybe layout should be changed a bit, but colors are very much like I like.
Offline
Layout 3 rocks but if it would be attractive for people who don't know Arch yet? May it be possible for users to choose which Design they like when surfing archlinux.org?
Offline
I prefer the lighter colors of layout 1 and 2.
I think redesign 3 may have a bit of advantage in terms of layout.
It does a better job of collecting all the major reference links in one place.
I guess redesign 2 presents pretty much the same info,
but do the "forums" and "wiki" links warrant separate tabs?
It seems clicking on a tab would make an user wait for another page to load, unless the tabs are actually direct links to the wiki / forum / whatever.
I guess my point is that layout 3 lets an user reach more information with less clicking.
layout 3 with lighter colors (or some other combination of layout 2 and 3) would be ideal to me
my 2 cents

Layout 2 looks the most formal which is a good thing.
And will look really good if you intergrate the forums into the site itself.
Layout 3 looks a bit getto. But blends in with my gtk theme
Anyway top job rezza,
Finally looks like archlinux.org might get a makeover.

My vote still stays with #2, unless we see a 'light' #3

I like the concept of 3 more, although it seems less developed than 1 and 2. The more websites I see, the more I become a minimalist.
I just have one request, though: work out the Javascript or whatever so that when the page loads, the cursor goes directly to the package search. No more using the mouse when I'm on a quick package mission makes me a happy guy.

I like the third design best. More web 2.0-y-er-like.
Offline
i am all for a layout #2-based redesign

Someone put it online! And add a choice of style. Then everybody is happy.

Don't like #3 at all. Way too busy; too many links and not enough information. IMHO, opening page should draw people in to look around, not provide direct access on everything on the site. I like #2, maybe with some mods on the color scheme.
In defense of #3, it's way better than my mockup [link missing]
