Re: Media keys detected by showkey, but not by xev

Ok so disabling the "Microsoft Wired Keyboard 600" slave disables the keyboard. Enabling/disabling the pointer or the "(keys)" device makes no odds to anything; these two detect no keypresses of any kind using "xinput test" either.

Re: Media keys detected by showkey, but not by xev

If running cinnamon 3.2.0-1 open Looking Glass and look for any errors in the log.

See anything like below?

error t=2016-11-07T21:13:25Z Requiring XApp, version none: Typelib file for namespace 'XApp' (any version) not found
error t=2016-11-07T21:13:25Z [Applet "keyboard@cinnamon.org"]: Error importing applet.js from keyboard@cinnamon.org
error t=2016-11-07T21:13:25Z Could not load applet keyboard@cinnamon.org

Having this applet fail to load stops loading any off normal keymap.

Exactly what is specifically missing or not functioning I do not know yet. Seems to be a libxapp specific to the keyboard@cinnamon.org applet. The X-App looks to be a new feature in the process of total implementation per Segfault.

I do not know how or when the keyboard applet failed but the update to cinnamon 3.2.0-1 does produce an error notification which seems to be new as I have not seen it before. I do not use the media keys or other off standard keymaps so would not notice failure.

There is a new (11-8) package in the AUR, xapps, which on the first casual look back at the source appears to be the missing part of keyboard applet. I will do some more reading in the AM and probably see if it solves the problem after making a drive backup.

The xapps package is now in community and after install the cinnamon keyboard applet loads properly. Those who are using cinnamon and multimedia or other keyboard layouts will have to test this and see if the complete issue is solved.

Re: Media keys detected by showkey, but not by xev

No errors at all in my looking glass; still running Cinnamon 3.0.7-2 here (no update available yet...). I tried installing xapps just in case and it made no difference.

EDIT: Tried updating Cinnamon and various other things broke (the mouse basically ignored the "system UI", so had to revert from 3.2 back to the aforementioned version. Updating to 3.2 did not fix the media keys still though.

I had the same problem, downgrading the package solved it for me!
Thanks a lot!

I've now added it to ignore the package in my pacman.conf smile
