Re: Searching for a music player like ...

gmpc looks nice. I'll try it. It requires libmpd but not mpd, do I need to install mpd?

BTW, why there are so much ID3 tagging libraries: id3lib, taglib, libid3tag etc?

Re: Searching for a music player like ...

One thing I would like to see added to boombox, or as a stand alone would be a tray icon controling it, I have hacked some karamba widgets to control it but I want it to dock.......

Me too. And global hotkeys for all players!
IMHO music player should be non-intrusive at work. Global hotkeys and tray popups (or OSD) + good playlist/collection management with easy access by hotkeys or from tray - that's all I need.
That's why I never liked Winamp and clones with tons of useless plugins and skins.
