Plasma 5 - Breeze splash screen kde icon won't load

Hello,

I am having this "problem" over a year and still is still present, arch is up to date. Splash screen has some weird icon made of three dots and one sign ">" lookling like this ":>". This is present on the system /usr/share/plasma/look-and-feel/org.kde.breeze.desktop/contents/splash/images/kde.svgz and I didn't edit nothing or modify the theme.

Also in systemsettings -> Desktop Behavior >Icon in front of Workspace is the same ":>"

It seems like my kde icon is not shown across various parts of the system.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

What icon were you expecting instead? AFAIK, the icon you're describing is the one to expect. It's the one I have as well.

Its some bug I would say as the kde.svgz is a real KDE Icon. This ":>" icon is what I would says some error icon displayed instead as the original is not shown or cannot be read. I have successfully opened kde.svgz icon in GIMP so there must be some other issue with it.

The ':>' icon is the plasma logo.

/usr/share/plasma/look-and-feel/org.kde.breeze.desktop/contents/splash/images/plasma.svgz

This isn't a bug.

As @WorMzy says, the icon you want is the KDE icon, which is not the same as the Plasma icon. The article you linked shows how you can change it to the KDE icon (or any other theme).

Got it.

But when you open SystemSettings -> Workspace Theme -> Splash Screen - You will see a KDE icon in the preview picture above Breeze theme. When you click on PLAY sign you will see a plasma icon and not KDE one... Just a fyi.

It works, I have edit /usr/share/plasma/look-and-feel/org.kde.breeze.desktop/contents/splash/Splash.qml and replaced the plasma.svgz with kde.svgz. Also I saw that kde.svgz is at the EOF but don't know when is shown.

EDIT: I read again all of this... Duh stupid... I never looked at detail or research anything about plasma when arch transitioned from kde to it so... my bad... That icon looks weird.

Well noticed. It looks like the preview image (/usr/share/plasma/look-and-feel/org.kde.breeze.desktop/contents/previews/splash.png) isn't 100% representative of the actual splash screen. I guess you could count this as a bug, but I see it more of a cosmetic oversight. It may be worth letting upstream know about it, but don't be surprised if they don't treat it as a high priority.

It should be displayed at the bottom right of the splash screen.

You are linking to the KDE Forums topic where a Debian 9 user is asking about the plasma splash. The Debian 9 (stretch) is using Plasma 5.8: https://packages.debian.org/search?keyw … ection=all .
