Re: IBM Thinkpad Specific Kernel - kernel26thinkpad

It'd be awesome if you could enable some of the FBs for thinkpads, assuming they don't cause problems... I know nvidiafb does, but are there any thinkpads with nvidia cards?
radeonfb would make me happy as I could use the framebuffer in native resolution

I enabled vesafb-tng. You can use that to get your desired resolution in ttys.

I am currently testing out the undervolting patch - and it seems to be going well.

Re: IBM Thinkpad Specific Kernel - kernel26thinkpad

OK, everything's fine with a T43 / ATI X300

Suspend/Hibernate OK !
( suspend wasn't with beyond )

I am looking forward for new improvement.
Ask if you need some special return/feedback.

Thanks a lot

Thats all I need to know. Glad to see I have helped atleast one Thinkpad user out.

What kind of improvement were you looking for? Also any feedback is better than no feedback.

Once you test it and it works - any way of getting the packages on AUR to be tested instead of unsupported?

Re: IBM Thinkpad Specific Kernel - kernel26thinkpad

More patches are on their way especially for the new T60/X60s users.

Also if you run gnome I have a package called gnome-hdaps-applet. If someone could build a package for AUR that would be awesome.

The kde hdaps applet is here

I don't know. On the first post, you were talking about some patches I'd never heard
about ( I don't even know what are they for )
Now, you're talking about 'undervolt'. I suppose it's about improve battery life.
So, I trust you about all these patches  8)

What for patches?

If I have time ( I think this weekend) I thest the Kernel and then I setup my ACPI/Suspend ..... I hope it works

Yes undervolting does work - my Banias core 1.5GHz cpu is now pretty cool and has given my about additional 40min on battery life.

Yeah.  I can maintain the binaries in [community] - or, alternatively, you can apply to be a TU and maintain them yourself.  This might be better, as it would allow you to make binary changes for yourself, instead of emailing me saying "hey updates to XYZ".

Yes, it will be welcome. I read some pages on Thinkwiki, but I don't really understand what I am supposed to do.  I saw another interessant thing:

To get rid of the pageset error add this line to your /etc/hibernate/suspend2.conf

ProcSetting extra_pages_allowance 0

Thinkpad T22 with Savage video card, the idea is superb. Finally a kernel I don't have to config myself while still being optimised for my hardware.

How exactly did you get the hdaps_applet to work in gnome? It doesnt appear in my gnome-menu as an applet option.
