Hello all! Thank you in advance for kindly helping this newbie. I'm running Arch Linux x86_64, with i3wm.
I've installed Nautilus, and checked xdg-mime is set correctly:
xdg-mime query default inode/directory
org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop
However, in a browser, or other app, when selecting "save as..." (or some other function requiring file manager), I'm just landing on a blank screen.
I've been practising my "duckduckfu" for some time to no avail. Any pointers would be appreciated!

The "save as" dialog has nothing to do with file managers, that is a widget provided by the toolkit used by the "browser or other app" (e.g, gtk).
What do you mean by "landing on a blank screen"? Have you seen this?

Thank you so much for your reply. When I couldn't get it working I thought perhaps those dialogues hook into a file manager somehow (I never had this problem using i3/ubuntu). The screen was just white, after clicking "save-as" in any browser. I'm using HDPI - I wonder if that caused the problem?
You pointed me in the exact direction I needed. Changing floating sizes corrected the problem.
floating_minimum_size 450 x 450
floating_maximum_size 1500 x 1500
Thanks again. Much obliged!

dboneham, please do not necrobump, especially with an empty post in a solved thread.
