[solved] startx displays X wrong at startup (only after switching tty)

Nope totally fine here. Somehow I have been reading in the arch wiki to create such file, but didn't read careful enough in which case.

To elaborate: the xorg-server comes w/ a generic driver that operates on the modesetting interface of the kernel module (in your case the i915 module)
