I recently got HP dv5-1145ee laptop and have similar issues. Some times to boot the computer  two or three hot reset is required.

googled for the errors and found lot of results but no solution. The hooks option and passing kernel parameters (earlymodules=piix pci=nomsi all combination tried) did not help to resolve this issue.

I will try with ubuntu cd and post what it says. Is any one with same laptop got this error?

With Ubuntu 9.04 live CD, dmesg shows the same error.
