My windows partition is not mounted, how can i access to the file from linux ?
And am i not already on the LTS kernel ? Didn't understood this part too ...
Sorry, i'm still a noob at arch

What if you remove nomodeset from command line?

So it was juste mounting the windows partition lol.
What if you remove nomodeset from command line?
If i remove nomodeset, i just can't see my screen anymore, from the first install it's a hardware incompatibility which make a blackscreen just after the boot, whether linux is on a DE or on console...

Juste a sec and i install LTS again
Offline
I have a problem, when i try to install linux lts, after the mkinitcpio scripts, it says me :
==> Creating gzip-compressed initcpio image: /boot/initramfs-linux-lts-fallback.img
gzip: stdout: No space left on device
bsdtar: Write error
bsdtar: Write error
==> ERROR: Image generation FAILED: bsdtar (step 1) reported an error
And i see with df that my boot partition is full.
What can i do ? delete manually the initramfs files ?
Offline
So, i deleted the initramfs manually, and then ran again pacman -S linux-lts
My windows boot is properly shutdown, booted on the lts initramfs, but when i hibernate, still the same problem, didn't changed a thing.

Please don't bump. Just edit your previous post when nobody has replied inbetween.
The hiberfil.sys was last written today 17:14:01 CET but you claimed to have "just disabled it" today 12:36 CET - this smells like windows fast boot is not actually disabled and certainly wasn't at some point (17:14) after you claimed to have disabled it.
Try to shutdown windows from cmd.exe
shutdown /s /f /t 0
and see whether that has any impact. Also watch the hiberfil.sys timestamps again.

Oh sorry for the post bump.
So, i did the shutdown on windows with your command line, and when i went on linux, i couldn't mount the windows partition because .... The system was hibernating !!
I'm sure at 1000% i disabled it on windows, and then i remembered, there is a fast boot option in my Bios settings.
I just disabled it, tonight i will shutdown my windows part with the command line, and the we will see tomorrow the hiberfil.sys timestamps.
Thanks for all your help so far.

This is why windows sucks ;-)
The BIOS fast-boot is unrelated, it (typically) skips some lengthy memory checks.
Boot back into windows and shutdown again at least once (but feel free to do it twice or thrice to please the ACPI voodoo gods) before booting linux again to hopefully get into a consistent state.

Hello, so i used your command line yesterday, and when i went this morning to mount the windows partition ... Again hibernating.
Then i tried like 4 times to reboot windows with the command line, to make sure it was properly shutdown, and i'm 100% sure i disabled fast boot in windows menus, then ran linux... and again !
Windows is hibernated, refused to mount.
Falling back to read-only mount because the NTFS partition is in an
unsafe state. Please resume and shutdown Windows fully (no hibernation
or fast restarting.)
At this point i just want to know why it isn't working and reinstall a cleaner arc
Offline
Possibly not hibernation but an unclean shutdown, try a bit more relaxed:
shutdown /s
Offline
Still the same, unable to mount...

Try to run a filesystem check…

I don't understand, i have fsck enable in my mkinitcpio, so it runs automatically at every boot if i understood how it works ?
Offline
"On windows"
It's an ntfs partition, isn't? And you're also not automounting it either, are you?

Oh yeah right,

Going to try to mount the partition now after shutdown windows.
Edit :
Still can't mount ...
Windows is hibernated, refused to mount.
Falling back to read-only mount because the NTFS partition is in an

I really don't understand what happening here.

How exactly did you disable windows fast-start?
Try to also disable hibernation (ie. the actual explicit feature, follow-up link on tenforums.com)
Offline
In the power settings in windows as said in your link.
The hibernation is already disabled, i tried that, and i don't have hibernate option anymore in windows menu since yesterday.
Offline
When you shutdown windows "normally", can you mount the FS?
What if you "reboot" windows , but reboot into linux?
Offline
Hello, Indeed with a normal shutdown the mounting was possible (I gave you the hiberfile.sys like this).
FYI i finally reinstalled the archlinux part, was a little bit fed up with this not working, then i found that even with the brand new archlinux, it still do the same rebooting !!
Then i saw in this link : https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Du … th_Windows
For the same reason, if you share one EFI System Partition between Windows and Linux, then the EFI System Partition may be damaged if you hibernate (or shutdown with Fast Startup enabled) and then start Linux, or hibernate Linux and then start Windows.
Is there a possibility that the problem was something between the EFI and refind, with a corrupted EFI which make the system partially works ?
Offline
I'm not sure whether a corrupted EFI partition could cause an ACPI error, but would certainly fsck it.
Offline
I did even better lol.
So, I ran some test, and the fun thing is :
- I first reinstalled Archlinux, the problem was still there.
- Then i reinstalled Windows, still the same problem.
- Finally, as i have a NVME ssd and a normal SSD, i reinstalled windows with his ESP on the nvme, and Arch with his ESP in the other SSD. I installed Refind on the Archlinux ESP and booting on Refind.
And then .... STILL same problem !
I'm starting to think that it is a linux version problem maybe ?
I think i will give up on hibernate and just start normally my pc, even i have to get used again to not use the hibernate functionality...

What if you lie and pass
acpi_osi=! acpi_osi="Windows 2009"
to the kernel paraeters? (you can also try 2012 ad 2013)

Hello, after some month without ArchLinux, i'M BACK
I used to have this problem, and the Archwiki solved it, so i came to link the problem i was having :
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Po … om_suspend
The problem was that my usb devices (mouse and keyboard), was interacting bad with the ACPI wakeup triggers, and tweaking the file made it goes smoothly into hibernate.
We were close seth, thank you for all the time you spent on the case, even if i droped it before we found the solution.

Cool.
Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.
