mkinitcpio.conf (I left out the commented lines):
MODULES=(amdgpu) BINARIES=() FILES=() HOOKS=(base udev autodetect modconf block filesystems keyboard fsck)
When I run mkinitcpio:
==> Starting dry run: 5.18.1-arch1-1 -> Running build hook: [base] -> Running build hook: [udev] -> Running build hook: [autodetect] -> Running build hook: [modconf] -> Running build hook: [block] ==> WARNING: Possibly missing firmware for module: xhci_pci -> Running build hook: [filesystems] -> Running build hook: [keyboard] -> Running build hook: [fsck] ==> Generating module dependencies ==> Dry run complete, use -g IMAGE to generate a real image
Please run mkinitcpio -P. Without "-P"-Flag, you're only doing a dry run (as the output says in line 1), so without generating the image.

After running mkinitcpio with the -P flag, my Arch boots with no issues. Just one thing -- is rescue mode something that automatically happens when I boot in single-user mode, i.e. is that normal? But even if it isn't, my original issue is solved.

See https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/System … md_targets
single and rescue target are the same in systemd-world

Thanks.
