Re: Laptop HDMI external display not being detected

Just for reference, this is what a successful custom EDID load looks like in the logs:

... kernel: [drm] Got external EDID base block and 0 extensions from "edid/edid48.bin" for connector "eDP-1"

Edit: As a sanity check, I'd try using a Fedora or Ubuntu desktop iso to boot a live system and see if the monitor is detected.

Thank you. I'll try that out and tell you outcome of this experiment later

Re: Laptop HDMI external display not being detected

So I guess, I'll have to wait until kernel 6.2.0 is released?

Re: Laptop HDMI external display not being detected

How do you come to this conclusion?
I only briefly skimmed those bugs, but didn't see a pending fix mentioned?

Thank you very much, Johan. I'll give it a try. I suppose kernel 6.2.0 will eventually have these patches merged anyway, isn't it ?

I've tested your kernel and I can report this:

    HDMI works
    suspend/resume works
    Thunderbolt with external monitor works
Dynamic Graphics (i915 and NVidia on) does allow to change/save brightness and scrren refresh rate is 60Hz
Discrete Graphics (only NVidia on) does NOT allow to change/save brightness, but screen refresh rate can be raised to 165Hz

@johanvf Do you want me to perform some other test or report some data back to you ? I'd like to thank you for this kernel and contribute with anything you find valuable.

"HDMI works" was more than enough for me smile
