Your initramfs gets bigger by a bit so you might have problems if your space in /boot is tight, but that's about it for disadvantages.

Early KMS start seems to be the solution! I can now boot successfully again.
Thanks again for the help. I didn't really understand the problem itself and couldn't have figured that out from the log myself, but I learned something anyway.

No, you can't. You can report it for deletion, but that serves little purpose beyond keeping a moderator busy
