There're four drives, but that one looks uncritical.
The fstab looks ok, too - remains the broken usb device.

Only mouse and keyboard are connected BTW. I have a NIC installed that connects through internal USB. Some cheap crap off Amazon, I'm pretty sure that's what the genesis one should be. Maybe that could be a problem?

The last one has issues:

Hub", nothing seems attached there and your internal wifi(?) NIC doesn't show up in lsusb.
And you had network issues.
And your input devices are on the same root hub.
I'd certainly remove that thing and measure the impact.
Offline
I removed the Wifi card and HDD as well, but things remain the same.
Here is a new Xorg log:
I gave it quick glance and didn't see any USB failure. If you are going off the first log before I removed My normal keyboard and mouse, I also had a Push 2 connected to it, that might be the device that failed.

Boot time has definitely improved.
Offline
USB errors and boot delays would only show up in the journal, not the X11 log (that's for the display server only)
Is FF faster when you run it the second time into the boot?
Please post a system journal after starting FF twice.
Offline
It is a bit faster, but still stuuters around for the first 10 seconds.
Is that the right one? Its pretty big again.
Offline
Another discovery. CS2 starts up really slow, but once I'm in game it runs smooth no problems. Except when I hit tab. Screen frooze for a good 5 minutes.
Also: Opening GTK+ Demo from desktop now lags. When I run the Application Class it takes about 10 seconds to open.

I have tried to replicate the problem installing arch on my HDD, but it doesn't happen there. So the SSD was the culprit. Do you maybe know if there are somethings I need to watch out for with SSDs? I have trimming enabled, but thats it. It is a wd blue sa510 m.2 SSD. It wasn't acting up when windows was installed on it.

You did run the disk performance test on that device though, did you?
M.2's specifically have a tendency for loose connections (if you assembled it yourself, the screw! too tight or to loose is a pot. problem), or simply being broken - see eg. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=278015 for some systemic issues.
Those would however typically show up in the journal…
Offline
Yes, I did. I was getting 400+ Read rate, same for write.
Just re-ran the test: 430 Read and 4,8 MB/s write...
Offline
Can you test it in a different system and/or from a different SW stack (live distro like eg. grml)?
(I guess we don't have to point out that the write performance is pisspoorpityabsymalish)
Offline
I tested it from the HDD where I installed Arch on. But I can flash a live USB real quick and check from there.
Offline
Ubuntu and Monjaro both show same potato speeds. I probably did a test while the issues were not present in arch. When the disk is running a fresh install it works like it should.
Offline
Is the disk very full?
Assuming you're no longer using it, you could wipe it and measure the performance of filling it to see whether it takes a hard dive at some point - and where.
Offline
No, it's only 30% full. Formating by overwriting the whole disk with 0s confirms dip in performance around the 30% mark.

Bought it exactly a year ago. I have to try and find the receipt and see how long the warranty is.
Thanks for your help anyways.
