Yes, i'm talking about the same, and this is what i was saying in my previous message ("which allows either screenshots on PRINTSCREEN, either recordings") = the default "Take A Screenshot" gnome tool has a "recording" mode, allowing to generate a VIDEO (as a .webm).
And this is still working on my side.

One of you is using gnome on X11 and the other one gnome on wayland?
The xdg-blah-foo stuff largely serves to work around the shortcomings of the latter protocol.

i'm also on xorg.
@srg is right.
i didn't understand what screen recorder app he is using.
i didn't know there is something like that built into gnome.
if i understand well he is using this app (the right icon).
in there, there is an option to capture also video and yes, it is working with the mask of the xdg... service.
(with `kooha` i had to unmask the service to get the recording video working).
