Re: [SOLVED] cpu frequency dropping after unplugging AC cable

There was an ErP option but it was disabled and the UEFI is up to date too and I also did the steps you said but nothing changed

I also noticed that on login screen there is no lag and when it gets to the desktop it starts to lag a little bit and after opening firefox the lag gets much worse

disabling dgpu doesn't change anything

Are you sure the GPU is disabled? The method to which I linked might just render the card not visible but still drawing power. Can you disable it from the firmware ("BIOS") options?

I really can't believe an 11th generation i5 struggles with FF on battery power. My last Intel laptop was Haswell i5 and that was just fine on battery, although it did struggle with CS:GO unless it was plugged in.

Did you try raising the minimum CPU frequency just to see if it helps?

Re: [SOLVED] cpu frequency dropping after unplugging AC cable

How does that relate to HoaS comment? Like, at all?
Anyway, the CPU frequency drops in response to some acpi event - this is either some userspace powermanager or the firmware (UEFI).
If you're supre-sure that you're not running /any/ kind of power management daemon I'd look at the firmware settings or whether there's a bug, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 4#p2143674

The next question is whether the cpufrequency drop is /actually/ the problem here.
You're concerning that "the movement of cursor gets laggy" but moving the mouse cursor does not require a fast-clocked CPU. The cursor is ideally rendered anyway.

Step one is to get the overhyped wayland compositor out of the equation and test the behavior on eg. openbox.
As for watching videos on youporn, browser HW acceleration is a topic by itself, so a better comparism would be video playback w/ eg. mpv.

Ultimately, to narrow down on the issue would be to check the battery CPU frequency on windows.

Ceterum censeo: 3rd link below. Mandatory.
Disable it (it's NOT the BIOS setting!) and reboot windows and linux twice for voodo reasons.

Re: [SOLVED] cpu frequency dropping after unplugging AC cable

Okay I tried kde plasma and the lag is fixed now maybe there was a bug with hyprland.
Anyway thank you all for your help.

Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.
