SideWinder 2 Joystick works but it's not detected by KDE settings

I have the Microsoft SideWinder Precision 2 connected via USB, here's the 'lsusb' output:

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 045e:02ea Microsoft Corp. Xbox One Controller
Bus 003 Device 003: ID 0408:4035 Quanta Computer, Inc. ACER HD User Facing
Bus 003 Device 004: ID 8087:0026 Intel Corp. AX201 Bluetooth
Bus 003 Device 005: ID 045e:0038 Microsoft Corp. SideWinder Precision 2
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub

The XBOX Controller does appear in the KDE 'Game Controller' settings showing all of its corresponding buttons and axes, but this is not the case for the SideWinder. The SideWinder works with any other software, Steam and even a Windows game recognize it as a game input device but not KDE. The strange thing is that the joystick was being detected by KDE Plasma 5 and it worked normally, currently I'm on Plasma 6.

Re: SideWinder 2 Joystick works but it's not detected by KDE settings

I'm also using KDE Plasma 6, specifically with Wayland, mine shows up right away with no needed drivers. Bus 001 Device 002: ID 045e:0038 Microsoft Corp. SideWinder Precision 2
Steam also lists it as "Microsoft SideWinder Precision 2 Joystick"
Try plugging the joystick into a usb port directly on your motherboard.

Re: SideWinder 2 Joystick works but it's not detected by KDE settings

I have the same problem with my Thrustmaster T-flight.

Bus 003 Device 004: ID 044f:b108 ThrustMaster, Inc. T-Flight Hotas X Flight Stick

It worked perfectly with Plasma 5. Since Plasma 6, KDE's Game Controller settings show up blank and Elite Dangerous (the only software I use it with) crashes constantly on "Planetary generation system". Deleting ED's Bindings file worked for a while to get around that but any time I brought back any custom bindings, it's straight back to crashing. Since trying swapping USB ports, it crashes regardless.

I have tried installed joyutils, jstest-gtk (my HOTAS shows up there fine), swapping USB ports, different Proton versions, verifying game files, reinstalling the game, switching from Wayland to X11..... Nothing has made any difference and my HOTAS is currently unusable for me (and I can't use ED without the HOTAS even plugged in because it now just crashes no matter what I do) sad
