If anyone's curious, I'm running gnome inside a user mode linux (check the package, user-mode-linux from unofficial) instance and I have evolution (which I'm not quite sure has been uploaded to the trees or not... being a developer has it's advantages...). My window manager is blackbox (the original *box) and I've got a bunch of things in the slit in the top left that I'm not sure if I've uploaded yet or not...

Anyway... I'm done talking about my laptop...

Yeah! The background is Amy Lee from Evanescence Live @ Pinkpop 2003 in the Netherlands. I worked at Pinkpop this year as a Streaming Audio broadcaster for 3voor12. We broadcasted the whole festival on the internet. I used Archlinux there to encode the live signal . It worked like a charme!

miro: a little tip if you want to get a proper bash prompt in your xterms, instead of bash-2.05b#. Set your shell to /bin/bash:

# usermod -s /bin/bash <username>

Arch automatically does this in 0.5, but not before.

actually I believe you need to copy over the .bashrc and .bash_profile files from /etc/skel . From what I understand, usermod -s won't do this (unless arch devels have modified it?). however, using the -m option when executing useradd would have-but it's a little late for that ;-) so just copy over those two files from /etc/skel and change them to permissions for your user.
