[solved] Removal policy of AUR packages

Hi there,

due to the python update I had to recompile some python based programs I have installed from the AUR, among them r128gain, which I use regularly to prepare audio files for my local music collection.

The package doesn't seem to be in the AUR anymore, see https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/r128gain but fortunately the tarball can still be downloaded, see https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/ … ain.tar.gz

I downloaded the tarball and everything went fine.

So I'm wondering: The most recent maintainer must have filed a deletion request, which must have been accepted, right? But wouldn't it have made more sense to just orphan it, so people like me who actually use the program can still download the PKGBUILD file to e.g. do a recompilation?

Is there a policy about what conditions a package must be in so it actually gets deleted from the AUR? I cannot find anything on the AUR startpage or on the wiki, especially on this FAQ entry https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Arch_U … m_the_AUR??

Opinions? I think r128gain should have stayed on the AUR.

Ah damn, thanks! Why haven't I considered that…

Looks like I have to update my stuff to this new replaygain tagger.
