Install Arch Linux on nvme ssd freely available disk space.

Hi I am Rupesh from India and I have a pc with intel 10 gen processor and Asus prime H 510 me motherboard and 256 gb nvme ssd. Previously I have installed Windows 11 and Arch Linux on the same System but now I can't.

I am able to install both windows 11 and Arch Linux properly but after some days I can't reinstall windows 11 from scratch without deleting Arch Linux.

Two years back I have installed Windows 11 and after that I have installed Linux several times without deleting Windows 11. I mean it means both windows and Linux co existed on the same machine.

Meanwhile I have updated my windows 11 several times and few days back it stopped working properly and so I have decided to format windows 11 partition and install newly downloaded windows 11 version through usb.

I failed to install and I got error as "windows 11 failed to install on this partition and so restart and try again." So I restarted the system and do the same but again I got the same error. So I have deleted windows c:  partition and Microsoft reserved msr partition and another partition related to windows and tried to install but unfortunately I got the same error again.

After a number of times I have removed all the partitions from the disk and after that tried to install windows 11 and succeeded. After that I have installed Arch Linux in the remaining free space through arch-install script.

After some time there was some problem in windows and so I have tried to install windows 11 without deleting Arch Linux but unfortunately again and again I am getting the same error.

My conclusion is windows 11 installation is being succeeded if there are no Linux partitions but if there are any Linux partitions like xfs, ext4 it is failed.

I think that Linux is modifying the ssd partition table and so windows 11 installation program can't understand.

My request is " Is there any way to divide the 256 gb nvme ssd into two parts and use one part for windows and it's partitions and another part for Linux and it's partitions."

Kindly try to suggest how to install both windows 11 and Arch Linux properly on the same Machine. I am ready to follow all your suggestions and even I am ready to provide any diagnostic information.

Do not use archinstall and follow the installation guide instead: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Installation_guide. Partition your disk yourself. If you don't know what you're doing, start with the Windows installer, manually configure the partitions there and leave some space for Arch.

Making a partition is the way that you divide a disk into multiple parts so that you can use each part with a different operating system. If you have an issue the Windows installer, you may be best asking in a Windows-centric support forum, but at minimum you need to state what the error you are getting is.

It may be helpful to run

fdisk -l

to see the current state of your drive's partition structure. You can run this on a booted Linux system or the Arch install media
