Most of these DDX drivers are somewhat unmaintained so chances are it will remain broken for quite a while, if fixed at all.
As for extra stuff, xfce should come with it's own compositor (though I do recall it coming up with some issues, though the details escape me)

Hmmm maybe I should look into picom, or even switching away from XFCE to something wayland based. Anyway for now the issues I was having appear to be gone, so I will mark this thread as solved. Thanks for all the help

You'll have to make sure that's disabled to ue picom instead,
Idk at hand but iirc the xfwm4 compositor uses xrender as backend which cannot sync to the vblank system (because X11 is still a network protocol that accidentally colors pixels of your monitor)

Yea no I'd defiantly disable xfwm4 before using picom. I think picom will be my best option if I want to stick with XFCE....
