I'm back. Although I disabled hibernating and there is no longer the waiting for entire minutes to resume actually using my machine, the other problem persists and that is that SDDM goes to lockscreen if I am AFK for long enough and then it's stalling many seconds (15 or so?) before I can enter my password and log back in.
I captured the sys journal when this happened again. Here it is:

I'd look a bit ahead of this but it seems likely that you lost the (E)GL context because of VRAM corruption, there's https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=302765 which fits your residual symptoms.

Regarding the long delay in logging in, i have completely circumvented that problem by using Wayland and not X11. However I suspect, that by switching to Wayland a new problem has been introduced. This however shall be a separate topic on it's own, that I'll post with a reference to here. Just so that we'll not clutter this into a topic of many problems.

i have completely circumvented that problem by using Wayland and not X11
Don't just gloss over this - identifying what makes stalls plasma on X11 will likely be the key to understand otherproblems™ on wayland.

Roger. Just generated locale for pt_PT UTF8.
Now, what is my next course of action? Switch to X11 temporarily and retest again but with kscreen disabled like mentioned before?
