I know exactly how virtual deps work, and they DO NOT APPLY here. You are not depending on something that can be satisfied by multiple, separate upstream softwares. You are also not depending on something that has changed package names. Nothing there applies.

Seriously, stop trying to reinvent the wheel. Package the software correctly and stop worrying about what helpers do. Somehow you've focused in on one behavior that's WRONG, and decided you want to trigger that. Don't.
