Yeah I know how to leave the insert mode, just thought it would be an important info (the fact that doublequote + a triggers text selection in nano).

Also the same happens with xterm, I still have to press the key after doublequotes twice.

I'm considering just having to press the keys twice and pressing enter twice for stuff with doublequotes to run. Do you think we are too far from the solution? I don't wanna waste a lot of time

The odd part is that xev doesn't pick up any spurious events.
I had thought maybe alacritty gets it from XI2, but xterm will rather not.
Does sth. show up in "sudo libinput debug-events" or "sudo evtest"?

Edit: for mmitigation I'd probably rather map the double quote to some other key.
