Upstream ff9a09b3e09c7b794b56f2f5858f5ce42ba46cb3 was backported to 6.16.4 as 36b93b34f392227dd7830ece4889cea1f33b1d5f in the log:

And I can confirm that it fixes my issue.

Obviously it's not the same thing and no evidence has been shown that it has anything to do with USB.
