The silicon degrades anyway (google "vmin shift disaster" for the raptor lake bug…), PBO puts it under extra stress - at some point it will inevitably reach the point where it's still stable on regular use but cannot handle the PBO voltage swings.
The ryzen problem is all over the place, until we can get any kind of hard data on the situation, it is the primary suspect.
