Just yesterday my old, trusty Sony Trinitron CRT died of natural causes. I was sitting in my room, when it kinda started smelling like fried electronics and for the grand finale it actually started smoking and making nice noises Well, opened it, saw that it is a mess and not worth fixing, so today my first task was to visit an electronics store. Bought a new LG L204WT LCD monitor. While it hits my financial budget as a student quite badly, it is well worth it. 1680x1050 almost feels like two monitors compared to the old 1024x768. Definitely a nice change btw. thumbs up for Arch and xorg -> I only had to add "1680x1050" to supported modes and I was done.

It's late in the month, but I'm a new Arch Linux user since only a few days back, previously running Gentoo Linux exclusivly for a few years prior to this - and I feel right at home almost imiedetly . So here's my newly installed and custom themed desktop:
I'm using Gnome with default Metacity window manager as of now, but am tempted to see if I can get Beryl and/or Compiz working on my box (which is rather low on RAM as of todays standards due to unfortunate cirrcumstances with the motherboard). With Gentoo it wasn't stable yet and it never really worked well on my box at the time I tried it out...
Anyways I call this my Springtime theme and it's a personal mashup of downloaded theme, icon theme and a nice green Arch Linux background :-)

And sorry for the teen-style O_o in the colors.sh.. forgot to change back after fooling around. I'd have used the script that even has a thread here but couldn't find a recent version of it..
Ion3 is my absolute favorite in window management.. tried many loved only one.
EDIT: haha, I even dated the file wrong.. "living in the past"..

Different machines. Been over a year since those old screenies, I've gotten more careful nowadays. My shots all, though, if that's what you meant. I kinda missed your point here.
And Finland indeed..

just got a samsung 226bw if your looking for a new lcd it's amazing
chaosgeisterchen: nice choice of music, in flames is amazing espicially live.
*laughs*
Thanks, it was just random (4600+ tracks in amarok database).
Believe it or not, I also just got my new 226BW. Funny coincidence.
Great LCD display, the results make me stun.
By the way:
1680x1050 is about to become more or less a sub-standard. Lots of displays nowadays have it as native resolution. Widescreen is great.
