Yes, that works perfectly, the editor opens with the signature loaded and aerc waits for the email address and subject. I typed the email address and subject, switch to the sqriptor window, typed the email and close the editor and get the send screen. Email goes without issue. :thumbsup:

Honestly, at this point I would just start with vim, it is known to work, don't tell it to start in the body and you can then enter the address and and subject and body in order.
Then quit vim and you should get the options screen.
EDIT: I just tried with kate and cannot enter the to and subject either, so it doesn't seem to like a GUI editor for composing, probably OK for replies though.
I just tried vim again and... IT WORKED
