Re: Arch Linux Official Mirror Standards

If you are so disappointed about the mirrors, how about you try to raise some new/better ones?
That shouldn't give you any problems at all, you should be able to do in in a day or two.........

How does trying to find other mirrors for Arch answer the original topic of this thread, that being whether or not there are any standards for "official" Arch mirrors?

I have to agree completely raymano... just because something is free doesn't mean it's worthy of being an "official" Arch mirror.  I have a television set that I'm willing to give away to the first person that gets here to pick it up.  The remote is lost, there's no picture, and the sound doesn't work, but hey, it's free.  lol  wink

A TV with no remote, picture or sound is roughly equivalent to a mirror with no packages and no internet connection.

So yeah, the American mirrors are a bit slow right now. I take it you'd rather have no mirrors? That's certainly what it looks like you're saying. Maybe you should just be glad you're not on dial up maxing out at 4.5Kb/s.

Actually, the EasyNews mirror provided in another thread is working pretty well, but if you really don't think there should be any standards to be an "official" Arch mirror, the mirror you mentioned above would certainly qualify.
