I'm using Arch some days and I must say I love Arch! Finally I've found a distribuition that suits my needs.
I've noticed that Arch has an awesome community too so It's really a distribution i like.
Sorry for some typing errors, but English it's not my native language.

Hi everybody,
I installed Arch on friday on my old T400 Notebook. An so far it's absolutely awesome
I'm very glad for the tons of work you people put into the awesome wiki that made it so easy for me to deal with every issue that i encountered during the first two days!
Now that i'm trying to get my brother HL2250dn to work, it starts to get a bit more difficult, but I'm quite sure that I can sort that out with some hints from you.

Hi folks,

Just installed Arch on my laptop yesterday and I'm very much enjoying it so far. I loved the installation process which really demystified installation for me.

I had (almost) exclusively used Debian before (still using it on servers) and wanted to try something new. After reading "the Arch Way" I knew it was going to be Arch Another very important factor in my choice is, I noticed I was using the Arch wiki a lot. It's a great resource, many thanks to all editors!

I'm obviously still totally at the beginning of the learning curve, but I hope I can soon contribute bacl.

I'll be joining the ranks hopefully by the end of the night. I've been at it now for over 6 hours with error after error, missing files, directories, array sizes, commenting and uncommenting... You guys really don't like new people do you? No joke though, you do learn linux this way. I've learned more in the last 6 hours then I have in the last 5 or so months of jumping from one distro to the other. I want to get back into android developing again and I know I need up to date software to keep everything running smoothly instead of staring at way out of date stuff.
So yeah, waiting on the kernel to finish so I can have the aufs2 for larch. This is a royal pain, I hope you know. Can't wait to get this puppy on the road. Probably doen't help I'm running a slow computer. Well, slow compared to most.

If you're installing, make sure you're following the beginners guide, and not some outdated third-party tutorial or youtube video.

Hi all!
My name is Mike, but G-man will suffice.
Have been running Linux fulltime on my home PC for about 4 years, ever since I downloaded my first Ubuntu live-CD. Now I have my parents and my kids running Linux, so we are 3 generations deep over here!
Prior to installing Arch (just over a week ago), I was a distro-hopping madman. Was quad booting this beast with Bodhi, Ubuntu, Mint, and openSuse, running e17, Unity, Cinnamon, and Gnome3.10 respectively. Not to mention the Library of Congress-sized binder full of live CD/DVD's. In general, I love Linux, the customization, the control, the many ways of getting things done, all the different flavors. But I still felt like I was missing something. Hence all the hopping!
I kept running into Arch all over the place when searching for answers about my other distros. It was becoming clear that the real Linux power-users seem to be running Arch. Of course, I had to see what it was all about, so I built an Arch install in VBox, with XFCE and was blown away. So I backed up all my data, formatted my drive and went to work installing Arch. My first attempt was ok, it was working but I failed to run genfstab, so my home folder did not end up where I intended it, which I didn't realize until I ran my Conky and my / and /home stats were identical. So I re-rolled, got it all set up nice with XFCE, and then took the plunge into KDE. I LOVE IT!!!!
Thanks to all who contribute to the wiki, I learned more in the last week about Linux than in the last 4 years just reading the beginner's guide and following the links to expanded topics. Absolutely phenomenal work.
Oh yeah, and pacman RULEZ.

My name is Glen, and I'm a devoted and pationated (C++) programmer. Sadly I come from a windows background and environment, with a little flare of macintosh in it. I did use Ubuntu and Mint a couple of times in the past for educational purposes, but never really got into Linux. It's thanks to my girlfriend that i got into Arch Linux and its awesome community. I'm still have troubles in configuring my archlinux on my desktop and laptop, but so far I have been enjoying archlinux with the awesome desktop environment.

I hope i'll have a long happy time on Arch Linux and have a great time with all of you!

I feel the need to reintroduce myself as I've been reacquainted with Arch, or rather, it has made itself more prominently known to me.  What started as a simple quest to improve my startup time turned into a complete overhaul of my system.  The biggest surface level change being switching from Cinnamon to i3.  Of course that spurred a cleaning out of my apps from many GUIs to only a handful (Chromium, LibreOffice, and a couple others).  The first overhaul was geared for performance, of course that means that I had to spend many hours researching on the Wiki and forums; and also that I borked my system on more than one occasion.  Which lead me back the KISS principle.  I ended up un-complicating things by changing my backup strategy and partition configuration right down to a smarter, more appropriate filesystem choice.  After about 7 months on Arch I feel like I've only just now (over the past few weeks) gotten in touch with the core principles of simplicity, elegance, and user empowerment.  Thanks Arch!

Hello everyone!

Fedora convert here (2 years). During the past few months majority of >proper< solutions to my problems I found on arch wiki. Sponsored distros should pay you tribute (money). Thanks to all of the contributors! Fresh programs and technologies is what lured me toward Arch. Linux has picked up some speed recently and it's unbearable for me to wait for months until a certain program (or desktop env.) gets updated.

I'm definitely not a savvy. I usually followed instructions,  making only small adjustments. As I'm writing this I'm also cooking up a 'help me' post regarding my first install - first failure

Hey guys! I'm running Parabola. First Arch(-like) install ever, but I must say: installing arch is a walk in the park compared to registering on this forum.
Have been using Ubuntu for years, but I couldn't tell you why.
