Hello, from Ye old forum introduction.
I have hopped between a few distro's over the years, and yesterday flowing into the day of posting this i
underwent my first arch install (base system, without more frills then base provides). I must admit that the
official ARCH wiki (or more correct : manual) is one of the most usefull wiki's i have ever encountered in
case of explaining anything, anywhere. Nice.

I have strange humor, i can post very direct, i have my idiosyncratic weirdness in posting at times.
But usually and almost never, would i mean harm or flame, or anything like that. At best i would debate
or just apply a more 'chat' styled communication via forum.

I know I already introduced myself here already, but I just got my Epson WF-7520 printer working from my laptop, all configured via wifi.  I hadn't been able to get this to work using OpenSUSE - the wiki, and the Arch attitude of not being afraid to get closer and closer to the command line (KDE printer manager wiffed, but the web based admin tool worked) helped me get things squared away. Now I just need to setup my home wifi to automatically start on boot and figure out why ALSA quits after suspend and does not come back up after resume and I'll be about ready to backup Windows data in preparation of making the laptop an Arch host / Windows guest (maybe only wine) machine instead of dual boot.

I'm very excited to be able to print!

Hello, greetings and all that nonsense...

I'm newish to Linux (almost a year), and I've been distro-hopping pretty much since day 1.  Arch has always fascinated me, but it took a while to familiarize & expand my knowledge base enough to attempt an install.  Even then, it was a long, drawn-out process of trial & error.  Thankfully, I have a 2nd computer to look stuff up, would've been pretty stressful otherwise.  Been running Arch for a couple weeks, now, and LOVIN it. :-D

I have a pretty dry sense of humor, and expect a few sci-fi references at random. ;-)

I fell for arch: becuase one could build up the system bit by bit with the help of a well written wiki. I am looking forward to set my system up.

I come from a year of Ubuntu (until ragequit due to increasing Windowsness) and almost three of Linux Mint Debian Edition (untile I gathered enough courage to try and get my dream-distro). I'm using Enlightenment as DE.

I am a Physics student at the university of Milano-Bicocca. I love the open-source phylosophy and I cultivate programming and informatics in general as a hobby, but I am a complete newbie.

I love music too (in particular, Blues and Rock 'n derivates - I dabbled myself into some unlistenable metal too during my teens). I come to the point of worship for Jello Biafra. Other bands I particulalry love are Rage Against the Machine, cKy and Black Mountain. My other favs come frome the obvious storic bands like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and such. I am crazy for Frank Zappa's Hot Rats (in particular for Don "Sugarcane" Harris' fiddle in The Gumbo Variations), but I'm missing other albums from Him.
I also sing in an amatorial band, but really don't know how to. I have a guitar and can't play it. I remedy with a kazoo.

I like reading (favorite authors: James Ellroy and Chuck Palahniuk) and watching movies (Favorite ones: The 25th hour, Pulp Fiction and, guess what, The Big Lebowski).

I hope to have a nice and pleasant stay here in this forum, and I'm willing to learn how to do things, not just asking how to sheepishly solve the problems I eoncounter. I'd RTFM, but I really have little spare time left from my studies.

Hello everyone,
"discovered" Archlinux via the Raspberry/HIFI oriented Archphile distro. Am over half a century old and been dabbling with a few linuxes since 199x now and then mostly with Debian. Really like the Archlinux way of controlling the system in a smilar way to the early distros. You sweat a little more but mostly know what is happening and why. Live in Italy and hope to learn with some help :-) My current goal is to get my Archphile Raspberry connected via wifi and I'm having problems with that.

Welcome to the forum rjalex.  Many of us here do love the Pi, but keep in mind that archlinuxARM is a different distro than archlinux - we can't offer support for the former here, but they do have their own forums on archlinuxarm.org.

Hi everyone! I installed arch last week after 7 years using linux, and I'm enjoying every bit of it! (Although it can get tedious at times)
There are still some things I'm trying to achieve, but it's really nice to be able to find solutions on the forums and wiki

In general the wiki/the forums/stackoverflow/a good google solves most problems, but sometimes I have things I need a little help with :-)

Hi all

Chemist from Switzerland here. Been busy installing and getting to run Arch for the last couple of months. Finally my system starts to resemble something I can work with. Thanks, for the great experience. It feels like I learned more about Linux during this time than over the last three years where I've been using several *buntus.
