Isn't it supposed to be bear with me? No...not a grizzly bear!
Yep, as in bearing. Welcome, psyc, to Arch Linux, we are not usually grammar police -- unless it is is humourous

Did you hear the one about the two guys that were going bear hunting? They entered the park and they saw a sign saying "Bear Left", so they went home. --HY

Hello everyone!
Finally I decided to install and setup Arch, sth I wanted to do long time ago. I started using Linux (Ubuntu) around 10 years ago and in the last 3-4 years was using Ubuntu as my main system. Thought why not hop onto the train now?! Setup went fairly well, now having Arch with Gnome, but soon gonna check out some tiling WMs (especially Awesome, it looks great!).
Hope it'll be a great experience! See you around!

Holy moley, Ubuntu is over 10 years old?? I remember when it was the newest distribution that was claiming to "bring Linux to the desktop".

To be more precise, it was 8 years ago. Version was 6.10 that I tried. In newer (14) versions I'm disappointed: few little annoying things I don't like, e.g. brightness not getting saved, old Intel Wi-Fi driver included -> sometimes crashing (yeah, stability-focused system, but not so good for an "easy" Linux system).

Hi guys! I'm also a newbie in Arch - just finished my first Arch install. I use linux since 2009, when I used Ubuntu and Fedora for a while. Since I started Computer Science college I ended up going back to the Linux universe, first using Linux Mint, then Kubuntu, then Mint again then Slackware, then Manjaro. Using Manjaro for a while I came into knowledge of the Arch Way and started to study this distro. Today I finally decided to actually install it in my computer (I have made some installations on virtualbox to learn it) and ascended to the Glorious Arch Linux Master Race.
Reasons why I chose this distro:
1. Rolling release
2. Simple, lightweight, only install what I need
3. I love the Arch Way
4. AUR
5. Pacman
6. Pacman
And now I really have a LOT to learn, but hey, that's what this wonderful community is for!

Hello everyone! New Arch user from Argentina here. I've been trying distributions for a while and I've ended liking Arch more than the rest, mainly because of pacman.
Regards, John.

Evening all.
The name's Trevor. I've been using a couple of days but Linux on and off for a couple of years. I've used Debian for about 6 years consistently on servers. I've learned a lot but I am nowhere near expert since it tends to be so darn stable for that use.
Desktop distros are much more flaky. It goes something like this:
SuSE > [Multi-year break] > Ubuntu > Mint > Debian > Fedora > Debian > Arch!
I'm giving Arch a try now and am enjoying it. I feel as if I have learned a lot in a short amount of time. I was getting really picky about things like package management and closeness to upstream that I decided to finally jump on over and see what all the fuss is about.
I'm a big gamer and really into retro gaming too so I hope to get Steam and a bunch of Nintendo emulators up and running soon.
Nice to meet you all, take care!

Hi, My name is AJ and I installed Arch last week hoping to learn more about Linux. I am a CS major and would like to show of my arch linux machine to my non-linux peers.

Hello, I'm ArgylePwnage!
I finally made the jump from various other distros (Ubuntu, Fedora, Elementary, etc...) to Arch because of the flexibility. Additionally looking at the beautiful environments I ran across in www.reddit.com/r/unixporn, it was hard to ignore. Finally a CS major, I'd like to become more familiar with the interworkings of Linux systems.
So....here I am!

Hey Archers!
I want to work with Arch..
I'm still a noobie on ArchLinux...but I like to know much more abut Arch.
And watch out...I'm about to ask my first noob question!
First of all, let me introduce myself:
I'm 54 years old, living in The Netherlands. I've been around with Linux from 1999, starting with Caldera. I never used Arch ( I wish I had done much earlier), but became extremely interested in the configurability that seems to be part of Arch.
The last 4 years I worked on Debian based Crunchbang.
My company is OSmigratie.nl. This company tries to help other companies to migrate to Linux and Free software in general.
Looking forward to meet up with other Archers!
Regards, Kees (kzpm)

Well hello, I'm pretty new to Arch as well :>
I used it for a month on a VM on Ubuntu but I couldn't wait any longer to switch completely to it. I'm a little bit new to the whole Linux world too, but I'm used to computers and it's getting easier everyday.
Currently I'm struggling with Xmonad, but I hope I can get a little help here

I've been running #! for some time now, and decided to take a peek at a rolling distro. Arch has been on my sights for a time now, mostly due to ArchAudio site
Let's see where we go...
