I've seen you on the Mint forums, IIRC, welcome.
I'm not only there - I'm everywhere!
Mint was my first Linux love and thanks to it I matured enough to be here now.

Hi all!
I'm new to Arch and to linux in general.
I was a bit tired of my windows and i had some spare time on my hands so I decided to give Arch a try.
It took me a night to install (damn optimus) but since this morning I've got a nice Arch + Gnome setup working.
Love it so far

I didn't know about Manjaro: Cup of Linux Edition. Interesting.

Was it hard to install Arch Linux? It's 100% terminal!

Installing arch linux is a terminal condition; buy life insurance.

Hello everyone,
I am new to Arch linux but have previous experience with UNIX and Linux OSes. I do a lot of scientific computations. If I run into trouble setting up libraries such as openmpi and mpich and apps such as MEEP, I hope I can find help here.

openmpi is in the official repositories, and mpich and meep are in the AUR, so they can easily be installed in a couple minutes.

Hello world
Newbie here, i've been a ubuntu guy since dapper, but got tired of poor support and unity...
I wanted to give arch a try because of its learning potential and the fact that it's a rolling release.
Really impressed by the quality of the community, the support, the documentation...
Hope to be able to participate very soon

Hey everyone
I've been a distro-hopper for many years but found a home with Manjaro Linux, which in turn led me to Arch. I'm a long way from a Virgin (wink), and above a Novice but wouldn't call myself Advanced or even Intermediate yet, still learning everyday.
I am loving the individuality, the speed and package availability of Arch and the Wiki is great; I have learned much from it.
I look forward to being an active member of the forum and community .....
... now if I can just get the nVidia driver to play nice with the Xserver and 3D GL I'll be happy !
Chat soon all !

Hello everyone:
I have dabbled with Linux since 1993 and used Ubuntu since 2006 and am still an active member of the Ubuntu Community. Arch has always interested me due to its being a rolling distro, In looking for an excellent Gnome 3 experience I decided to use Arch. I do have one question:

Sorry about that. That is what happens when little kids distract you from completing a post. Now I don't even remember what the question is... so I am in suspense as well.

I remember my quesstion now -- any initial recommendations on programs to add / remove to make the transition to Arch / Gnome easier?

Yes: Remove gnome. Add tmux.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GNOME is a good place to start, the next step would be narrowing down your question. Gnome startup ? Gnome shell theme? Gnome extension? what exactly is your focus? Then search our forums and internet about this. Good luck!

I guess I am a long time lurker (three years), but now I want to hop in the van.
Username's means my name in another language. I'm just a user who prefers Arch because it's bleeding edge and simple way to work.
