Greetings (Midwest USA). Over the last month I've been toying with Linux, to start, a Xubuntu Minimal 9.04 base-line system, which I completely redid 4 times before being satisfied, then noticed packages out of date and was feeling iffy over the "distribution" style they have going. Came across Arch Linux somewhere and liked the "bleeding edge" part of it. Wiped out Xubuntu, installed Arch. (Windows XP Professional sits on the first partition; used for gaming and nothing else.) Been tinkering with Arch (config files / console) since. I've gotten as far as getting GDM and XFCE4 installed, but they're not quite working well together yet. Lots of "work" to be done...

Hey People.
My name is Shrayas and i am from Chennai, India. I'm currently in my Final year of Computer science.
The reason why i chose Arch Linux is completely because of its speed and its simplicity.
EVERYTHING need to be installed from scratch and that is probably the most challenging thing.
Looking forward to learning a lot thro Arch Linux
ps: I'm also working to create a Flash based desktop environment so wish me luck

Hi.
Slackware user and partisan since '95, Plan 9 user since 2000 (I think I might have been one of the first 100 people to download the Third Edition CD), had some dealings with NetBSD, also an avid Schemer, MLer and lately Haskeller. (Seeking the redder pill... )
I got interested in Arch because of the high volume of Haskell activity and because the Arch ethos appeals to me as a Slacker, so when I needed a Linux to install on my new primary laptop this March I went with Arch, and I'm really liking it so far. Along the way I got a lot of good info on various ThinkPad quirks from the forums, so maybe I can "give back" by being helpful on occasion.

Hello. My name is Serj and I'm new in Arch. I have used Ubuntu before. I guess Arch is pretty good, but only with hummer and screwdriver, lol

Hello Everyone!
My name is Janne, living in Sweden. I started using Ubuntu when their 8.04 came out last spring and switched to Arch about a year ago. I wanted something faster than the Xubuntu I was using at the time, and I liked what I had heard about Arch and gave it a try.
Instantly I fell in love with the system and with the community. I read the beginner's guide several times and for the first time understood what computers were about. I still like the fact that when something brakes I know how to fix it, with the help of the community and my own knowledge.
Arch is not for everyone, but it's surely for me. Thank you!

Hallo all,
John here, from Columbus, Ohio, USA right now (just finished a BA and MA in Linguistics), but heading to Edinburgh, Scotland for Informatics PhD this fall. I was using xubuntu with fluxbox for a while on my eee 4g surf, and decided a couple weeks ago to switch to arch. It's just amazing how much faster everything is now!

hello...
i've been poking around arch's documentation and playing with it since april or so and i'm really impressed...
it keeps things simple
-- nothing stupid and extra is installed at the start
-- the defaults are sensible
documentation is great
-- when i look up general linux problems on google, archwiki is always near the top of the list
-- when i look up specific things on archwiki, there's always a very detailed and well-written page -- THANK YOU!
and pacman?
-- wonderful, powerful, easy for me to use
i've tried slackware, gentoo, freebsd, lunarlinux, ubuntu, xubuntu, and others... i mainly used slackware up until now...
archlinux is more stable, faster, and simpler than the alternatives i've tried... now i can start paying attention to other stuff... such as code...

Well I'm Megaman, most of you know me from my popular games series. I have used Linux for some time now, but still manage to come up with totally n00b questions from time to time. I was a long time Gentoo user aside from all the other distros I have used. Over the years I was with Gentoo, I woke up one day and said, WTF, I have never really gotten a performance boost from this non-sense. It was a great system Gentoo was with great package management, way to much fixing constantly though, it took me away from my task at hand way to often. But I see the light with Arch.

Hey, I'm new. Vista is expensive and slow, and I wanted to learn more about Linux, so I decided to put it on my new laptop. My friend threw me off the deep end by recommending Arch, and I like minimalism and the challenge.

Hello,
My old laptop died, and my new HP arrives in a few days. I decided it was time for a break from Gentoo, looked around, and found Arch. This looks like a solid community and I look forward to participating.

Hi,
i'm Lutz from Germany and i'm using Arch for about a year now. Linux (Suse, Mandriva, Sidux) is the main OS on my machines for some years now and i don't see any reason to change that, especially since i discovered Arch.
Keep on the good work, thank you.

Hi!
My name is Johan and came from Sweden. I have used GNU/Linux to and from for about 5 years now. My first deployment was previously RedHat then Ubuntu, Gentoo, and now finally I have found my favorite ... Arch Linux. Arch Linux gives me high adaptability to comfortable speeds. I am so in love!
You are doing good job with Arch and continue with it. But is there anything I can help with? My programming experience is not very high, but I am not afraid to learn new things. If you need help, don't be afraid to contact me.

Hello eveyone I am a fresh Newb as of today. It took me a while to get Arch installed, due to me coming from Ubuntu but I already love the hands on approach which forces me to actually learn and appreciate Linux. I am also dual booting Win 7 but will probably be using Arch as my main OS. I would like to thank everyone who has ever written a how to and who works on the Wiki because without it I would not be writing you this now
Thanks

Hey all! I am otherwise known around the web as davemc, buntunub, and archdave. I have been using Linux for about 3 years now and I love it. I cut my teeth on Gentoo, then Ubuntu/Xubuntu/Kubuntu wherein I learned quite a lot actually. Anyway, as great as those distro's are there is always better, and that lead me to Arch. I think I found home!

Hello everyone. My name is Jordan, from Vermont, USA. I'm a gamer at heart, so I don't use linux as much as most of you guys do, but you'll still see me around. Just tinkering with Linux for now, to broaden my horizons. I've toyed with other distros before... fedora core, ubuntu, and gentoo. But now I think I'm here to stay.
I'm in college studying to get a degree in video game development, so who knows, I may help the linux gaming scene one day.
