Hey Everyone!

Edit/Update: This is the only post I have (at least till Sept 10) on Arch forum. Wiki taught me to pay attention on things big_smile

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hi guys! Been using Arch off and on for 4 years or so. I love its barebones install -- reminds me of struggling to get an Ultrix DECstation up in the early '90s. I'm starting to hit problems I can't solve and haven't found answers to online, so it's about time I break cover and ask in the forums. Don't be too hard on me!

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

I've been meaning to pop in here and send out a warm welcome to all the new peeps that have posted in this thread as of late, so...Welcome new Archers! I'm quite new to Arch myself, however, I've been all-in, and in deep, since trying Arch for the first time this past September (I was on Ubuntu for 6 years before that - I can barely even look at Ubuntu any longer). I actually feel embarrassed to say that I've only been using Arch for, what, not quite 6 months yet? Arch got me good, that's for sure, and I'm here for as long as Arch exists. I hope you all come to appreciate all of the multitudinous really amazing things that make Arch what it is. Arch for life!

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Greetings!

Long-time Windows user here! Decided to abandon Windows because I am not happy with the direction that Win 10 is going. Using Arch on a secondary notebook since December 2017 and am very happy with Arch, its philosophy and the active community!

the direction that Win 10 is going

You mean complicating the way to disable (unnecessary and bloatful) systemd updates? Or the fact that it forces a reboot after n time an update was committed?

Yes, I agree.

Thank you! Yes, the lack of privacy control is certainly part of my decision. But also my personal experience when Windows 10 came out was disastrous: countless bugs, multiple user interfaces for same functionality, unresponsivnesses, driver issues, etc.  I felt like an alpha tester for what was once a well-tested and very comfortable user operating system. That might have changed but back then I've made my decision to choose Linux over Windows 10. And even though I miss the user experience of Windows 8.1, I am sure that I will get used to the new desktop environment eventually.

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello colleagues, I'm from Venezuela, but I had to migrate due to all the problems that my country is going through, I am currently in Buenos Aires, Argentina, it's a pleasure to greet you, I've been using Arch Linux for a few weeks now, but from now on I decided that Arch will be my definitive OS, I have been using windows for many years, then I was using UBUNTU for a month (but I did not like it at all, since the first day it was a relationship of hatred), but Arch Linux was almost love at first "key".

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hi, I've mainly stuck to Arch-based distros. First, I had Linux Mint, then Manjaro, then Antergos, then Arch (couldn't make it through the install process first time), then Manjaro, and finally, Arch!
