Exclusive Ubuntu (and then Xubuntu) user since 2007. After 15 years of trying to strip things out the system, the final straw was forced snaps. Was thinking about Manjaro, but decided to go straight Arch and couldn't be happier. in one weekend I went from 5 Xubuntu devices to 4 Arch devices and one holdover just for reference (which I haven't needed for a few weeks now).

Hello Everyone

Hello! I am using Arch for a week and I say this is an amazing distro. I really like to configure it while learning a lot. Now I have a minimalist desktop with cool Arch logo bootsplash
My first linux distro was Ubuntu MATE, but I tried Manjaro, Fedora and Tumleweed. I like all of linux distros, but the KISS philosophy and the AUR is a big plus for me.

I started my linux journy a few years ago, during a three week cold, by jumping in on the deep side by installing Arch without any prior knowledge. Strangely enough I got it up and running, so I got cocky and subsequently borked the system to oblivion. I realised I needed som training wheels, so I then turned to Antergos, and after that EndeavourOS.
However, now I feel/hope that I will bu able to run Arch Linux more reliably, but... you will probably see me asking questions in the forum, sooner or later.
Thank you for Arch Linux itself, the forum, and everything else.

Hello everybody!
First time one friend of mine introduced me Arch (it was KDE). He installed it on Lenovo V570. I could not maintain it, so after few months I had to return to Linux Mint, then LMDE... After it was Manjaro and finally, in 2018 I tried Arch and don't want anything else!
Now I've got some problems with installation on another laptop and I need help of this community...

Hello everyone!
I'm an Arch user for a couple of years now and I use it for my everyday work. I did receive a Macbook Pro from my company to use for my work, however using my hand-built desktop PC with my beloved Arch keeps me productive every day.
After being a "consumer" of Arch for a long time now I would like to start digging into package maintainership (and thus fixing issues arising with it).
My day job currently involves writing software in Ruby On Rails, Go, bash, etc. and in general I built software since I was six or seven in 1984. I'm interested in a lot of different things and languages like Rust, Dart (with Flutter), etc.. A little like a Jack of all trades.
Thank's for having me!

hi everyone!
ive decided to learn linux and eventually switch to it because im fed up with Microsoft and their boner on removing features (drag n drop images into apps),locking down + removing customization,ui inconsistency, being extremely bloated, pushing mandatory Microsoft accounts,an attempt to slip ads into the file manager, constant spying, etc.
ive been dabbling with arch linux on vmware for quite a while and installed it on my external hard drive (but i bricked it with cfdisk because i didnt know how to resize my partitions properly (Rip)) and wanting to switch but software holds me back to windows and the only software that is holding me back is maya,ie propriatary software.
would like to dabble into maintaining alien_package_converter https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/alie … _converter ,and after announcing that python2 will be removed from repos i would be shortly uploading it in aur along with pip we should strive for backwards compatibility not remove it.
my goal would be making more 3d people migrate to linux because linux offers a WAY better workflow compared to windows
but lack of software support prevents it from fully unlocking the potential linux offers
thats all i have to say bye!

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

Hello. I'm just happy I could get this installed, had some difficulty with getting it to boot and recognizing the encrypted partition, but I got it working.

Hi!
I've been a Linux user since Linux Mint 15 (Olivia), and I love how the Linux desktop experience feels!
I've learned about Arch Linux a year ago, and decided to give it a try on my old laptop.
After a couple installs (and some tinkering) I fell in love with it.
So I decided to dual boot it with Windows 10 (Since my main laptop is not supported on 11). And now, it became my daily driver! It's good, I use KDE Plasma and I can't complain.

hi everyone!
i came back to linux on desktop when realized that W11 and chromeOS guidelines were going to transform my PC an laptop into junk. So...... I had to boot linux on a chromebook, and every distro looked horrible. I've tried gallium, xubuntu and many others... finally i gave a chance to manjaro, and everything just worked. That great experience took me to arch, and with some help of archinstaller and AUR (xkeyboard-chrome-config), arch is working flawlessly on my chromebook (acer c730).

It was about time I made an account on this forum.

I am being inspired to try out Arch by the book, Building your Mouseless Development Environment by Matthieu Cneude. Following this a few months ago I successfully installed Arch Linux on an old laptop.
Now I wish to gain a broader and deeper understanding of Linux, so I can think of no better way than installing Arch on my main desktop system and making it my everyday driver. I will be carrying out this adventure in about a week and a half when I've taken some time off from work.
Undoubtedly I will eventually have some questions (Good ones, I hope!) and seek your collective wisdom here. Looking forwards to becoming part of this community.
Wishing you only the best,
boB
