Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello everyone !

I switched my daily driver to Linux in 2015, Linuxmint first, then Manjaro since 2016. Last year, I wanted to try Arch and installed a virtual machine with Gnome and all was fine. Last week, I installed it on my real machine with Cinnamon DE and I'm here now.

Best regards.

Hello world!!

I've been using arch linux for a few months and I must say that the distribution is magnificent, every day I like it more! What I like the most is the AUR, Pacman, Wiki, Rolling and more!!

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

I am a Scot, exiled to an island in Atlantic Canada.
I was introduced to Arch by my friend,Guru and fellow member from the lower 48 herOldMan .
It is thanks to him that my Arch experience,to date, has been relatively trouble free.
There have been occasions when plenty of strong coffee has been required, but thankfully, not too many.

Arch takes up a large chunk of my day,an investment that is beginning to pay dividends.
Until now I have never submitted a post, hopefully that will change.

Thanks to everyone who contributes.

Hi Arch Community.
Long time Linux user: occasional Kali, Whonix, Puppy, Tails; regular Debian, Ubuntu or Mint; pathologically inveterate emerge USE'r and now coming to experience Arch for the first time with my new HP Dragonfly G2.
Very impressed with the documentation.

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello Arch community!
I have been using Arch linux for about 2 years now.
It is the first Linux distribution I tried to install myself, and even though it was difficult at first, I now understand the utility of such a configurable distro like Arch.
I enjoy the convenience of being able to install Arch and configure arch on ancient 2007 laptops to the most modern hardware.
Thanks to all the hard working package maintainers who test and make sure updates are stable, the many AUR maintainers who prepackage obsucre software and ancient propriotary drivers, and all others who are responsible for keeping Arch linux running smoothly!

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hi! I installed Arch for the first time ever yesterday, after failing 4 times over like 2 weeks. I tried and I tried and eventually I tumbled through a reboot into the desktop (which I use because I am a noob) - I have had a lot of fun installing Bluetooth.services and Blueman and learning Vim at the moment. I have noticed already that Arch reboots and shutdown/turns on the fastest out of all the distros I have tried and it just seems fast and smooth. I love Pacman so I live here now. Thanks! :x

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hi all! I just logged in here because wanted to thank one member for getting the PIA wireguard working again.
Been with Arch second time just for few months but used Linux for last ~15 years when I left the Windows XP/Win7. Most of the time I've used Ubuntu flavours but distro hopped all the time. At the moment I have 6 different Linuxes installed which just tells me that I don't have anything important to do in life..  Now I'm thinking also changing my work laptop to Arch because of the Ubuntu going wrong direction with the Snap (IMO)

Thanks for the WIKI, Aur, Pacman and all your hard work!

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello everyone!
I have recently setup Arch as dualboot with windows as a complete Linux noobie coming from windows only, so I am completely over my head!
It took me many hours to setup but now I have to learn how to maintain it!

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

I've started to play with Arch-Linux about a week ago, crashed and reinstalled and reconfigured my Arch a couple of times since then. I've tried different setups. I've learned and I am still learning a lot from you guys. I'm Currently running Arch-Linux with Budgie on top of LightDM and xorg  and I haven't had this much fun in a long time with Windows.

So, Hello to you Archies.

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello world!
Over the years I've been thinking of switching to linux more and more, dipped my toes in it more than once, but never actually stuck with it, then I happened to get a job in which I have to work with it a lot, mostly debian.
And so I just decided to take the leap and and pick up Arch, with the idea that if I've got to work with linux, I might as well use it at home and get a better understanding of how it actually works.
With my latest pc build I started running arch, I picked it because I like it's philosophy, and the memes, they do make me laugh.

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello world!

I got my first linux setup (ubuntu) about 2 months ago, dualbooting with windows (as that was what I was used to) but honestly I haven't booted into windows since. Yesterday I officially overrode my windows partition with Arch and I'm excited to learn! Friend of mine convinced me to try Arch, and so far I've enjoyed it, I got my setup to the point I'm happy using it for anything I used to use my ubuntu boot for and so far I don't really see myself booting into ubuntu much, especially since all my old ubuntu files are simply mounted on arch. I still have some issues with Spotify mainly and a bit with i3 (although I am already considering switching to sway, based on what I hear people say), but I also haven't really looked into it that much. All in all am excited!

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello, and thanks for accepting me.
I love Linux and went from Mint to Nobara (Still use for gaming), and now setting up Arch for coding lessons and writing projects. I've screwed it up a few times and had to reinstall, so now just taking it easy and not installing too many packages just yet.
I keep Windows around grudgingly for just a few progs but hope to ditch that some day.
I love Arch so far, for all that it doesn't have, and for all I can see to do with it. Runs great so far.

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello everyone! Over a decade on the Tux, thank you to Every software developer out there that made nearly everything you can think of free and open source!!
Arch has certainly become my preferred, hands down the best for most use cases.
Now looking into open source generative AI tools, it's amazing how far open source has come.
It's kinda hard to be fooled once you've seen the light. smile

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello!  Completely new to Arch and pretty new to Linux.  First effort to install Arch, and I tried to do it all manually.  Almost successful!  No terminal in the GUI environment!  I botched something.  Think I can save this first effort without starting over?  Fun learning!  Take care!
