Hey everyone,
Been an arch user for about a week now, I am super impressed with everything related to arch. I was originally an Ubuntu user and recently switched because of the Unity interface that Ubuntu deployed, i switched to Fedora at that time to try at Gnome3 and was not impressed by it. So I did a bunch of looking on distrowatch trying to toss myself between getting PCLinuxOS or Mint and then I read on Arch Linux.
The fact that it lets you choose your own Display Environment and/or Window Manager caught my attention because I wanted to give something else a try besides GNOME and KDE while there were other choices involved between that Arch linux sucked me in with the rolling release. I was tired of downloading new ISO's and i was tired of unnecessary things being installed. I haven't dug into Linux as much as i have lately and its opened me up to a whole new experience. The Install was easy, Getting a DE setup was a task but not difficult and then getting the programs that I prefer was easy as eating pie.
I can say now that i will definitely be sticking with Arch for a long time.
I'm Michael by the way .

I absolutely love Arch, but in particular I encourage everyone to make good use of the excellent Arch wiki. Even for general Linux knowledge, I have found it to be superior to any other single resource I had come across before.
Indeed, Arch Wiki is a great font of knowledge for all of us. I'm still impressed with its completeness.

Well hello there.
I'm coming over here from Mint, already rather irritated with fancy GUIs and preinstalled apps causing problems as a result of extended Windows use and dabbling in an Ubuntu-like distro. I was enthralled with the rotating 3D windows (and so on) for a few weeks and then I suddenly realized that none of it actually gets anything done. Linux is full of choice! Why restrict myself to one bundle of applications when I could build an OS to exactly my needs, and while someone else can have the same OS as me and run it in a totally different way? I actually planned to migrate to Arch, or something like it, eventually; but I realized that with a "user friendly" distro whose internals I hardly touch, I'll never learn enough to step into an advanced distro easily. So hey, why not. I decided to give Arch a try as my first(ish) distro.
One month with Mint, and that's about all of my Linux experience so far, heh heh-- although a few days in Arch have already taught me more about Linux than a more "user friendly" distro could ever do, or force me to do. I suppose that's why: it's not done for you. You HAVE to mess with what's working under the hood in Arch, because by default it's probably not even there in the first place. And it's not unintuitive or irritating, especially with the great documentation. Even if I'm not able to do a complex set of commands on my own, I can follow along and somewhat understand what they do.
I suppose I've been rambling for a bit. Anyway, I feel as if I'm going to enjoy my stay with Arch...

Hi all,
Been using linux for a number of years, used to be a SuSE fan. Tried some earlier Ubuntus, Mint, and lately Crunchbang. Bought a new laptop last month, wanted to try something new in terms of distros. I became bored with Debian-based installs - hated getting stuck down the apt dependency rabbit hole, or not having up to date applications. Pacman is a breath of fresh air, as is Arch in general. Very pleased with it so far. I used my setup for general computing, and making music (renoise plus open source tools).
My day job involves writing software, nothing spectacular, mostly corporate Oracle/PLSQL/.NET stuff, although back in the day I worked on Solaris boxes. One reason for using linux (and XFCE) is that my home computer doesn't look like work!
I live in Cumbria in England. The scenery is nice.

Hey everyone, switched to Arch about a month ago and haven't looked back. Arch is perfect for me since it's lightweight and flexible yet easy to use. I had tried a few other distros in the past but I either found them too cluttered or found myself running into compiler and dependency problems too often. So far I've managed to solve nearly all my problems with Arch and I have everything working, so I'm happy.

Hello World,
I have been using Arch for almost a whole day. Woo Hoo! I had some problems initially but searched the forum, found the answers, got it working, and it feels good. I think I might just stick around and make myself at home.

Hello, fellow archers!
I've installed Arch after 2 years with Ubuntu and Debian stable (which seems to be a common trend here).
The OS is quite enjoyable, pacman incredibly fast!
Current configuration:
openbox, pcmanfm, urxvt, zsh...

Hello from Wales!
I've been using Debian, Linux Mint and Ubuntu for a few years now and have decided to give Arch a try; mainly because I want a rolling distribution that has GNOME 3. Let's hope it goes well!

Hello Friends!

I'm a student from China. Though I've used Arch for some months, I haven't come here before because of my poor English.
But I find this is a good place to communicate some thing about Linux.
So, hello everybody there!

Welcome wb14123...
Me too, I'm not a native speaker and still a newbie with Linux. Let's put away our worry, post anything we like, and stop excusing for our poor English. It's Linux that matters, anyway.

Sure, I'm not worried about anything. I don't think language is a big problem.
You are Japanese, right?
Just feel happy to work and play with Linux.

Hello everyone,
Just installed Arch yesterday for the first time. Been using Gentoo for the past 1.5 years.
Also used Sabayon and Ubuntu, but not too much. So far I like Arch and it has replaced
my Gentoo partition. Just happy Gnome3 is working as it should w/ xf86-video-ati driver

Hey Folks,
Just made my first post in the forums and decided that this would also be a good time to leave my mark on the Hello Everyone thread. I've been chugging along with arch for a few months. I managed to use the fantastic wiki and a few threads to install arch on my server with RAID 1 and on my M11X R2 with an encrypted partition riding next to Windows 7 (need's to beat Fallout New Vegas). Anyway, thanks to everyone for putting down so much great info and contributing to this amazing distribution.
