I know, I changed it back after it failed. But silly me thought it was quiet, not silent. My bad.
kano: when I get the time I'll build the kernel, and report back if I find anything
the kernel should be fine, just the ndiswrapper-fallen might need to be rebuilt on a box with the proper wireless depends installed. i think it took about 2min to compile when i did it on my axp.

Installed splashy as with the wiki and everything runs except:
one of the consoles keep getting this error:
sed -e expression #1, char 11 unterminated `s' command
and I am unable to get splashy to automatically switch to
the console (the splashy page stays up).
kernel line is
kernel /vmlinuz26 root=/dev/hda3 rw quiet vga=791 splash
Yes, rc.conf daemons line has splashy as the last daemon.
(Note: the build package process went fine except I had to
modify the PKGBUILD line to replace *sp with *sp=NULL to compile,
and the configure --disable-debug options does not work)
Thanks,
Mark

Will this be updated to work with the new fbcondecor patch and the latest gensplash(assuming the AUR package gets updated)?

Resurrecting a dead thread, but someone is working on a theme that looks much better, similar to Ubuntu's usplash http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Ar … tent=73509

Nice i just wish they merged a splash option to official initscripts already, its been ages and nothing happens.

Me too.

I would agree. A bit of beauty during boot would be great.

*bump*
I spent all night getting just any splash screen to work.
It ended up being Splashy from this thread (i.e. not the outdated AUR packages).
I would really enjoy seeing this properly implemented in initscripts and so on, for easier integration. Either that or having the stock kernel patched with fbsplash support.
