If you are trying to only install libx11 from testing, you need to install it with the -f (force) flag. So pacman -Sf libx11. The error you get about libx11-xcb.so.1 is that you don't have libx11 installed that contains the xcb library, which is the libx11 from testing.

I'm getting the same error as the person earlier was. I have updated in case that was my error.
emerald --replace
emerald: error while loading shared libraries: libwnck-1.so.22: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
libwnck-1.so.18.2.10 I have tried the link just in case but the same error as the other person. This is on kdemod should it make difference.
I'm sure I'm missing something can someone point me in the right direction.
emerald-git-20070913-1 emerald-themes-git-20070913-1
Everything is freshly installed from the repo.

Same problem here, I'm using testing also, and have upgraded all the packages. Still the same error.

Oops, forgot to compile emerald against the libwnck in extra. For now, just use the gtk window decorator until I get home to rebuild the packages against the proper libwnck.
Again, I ask for opinions if you would mind using the gnome 2.19 repo, as it would make my life a bit easier, and would mean another set of packages get tested.
Don't use the repo YET, just asking for opinions.

Personally, I was reluctant to enable the [testing] repo just so I could try out the Compiz Fusion binaries... the idea of grabbing even more unsupported (and by the looks of it, unstable) packages doesn't sound too appealing. My understanding is that within a couple of weeks we'll be at a stable version of GNOME? 2.20 or some such? If so, I would rather hold out for that, even if it meant no more updates to the CF binaries until that time.

Conversely to thayer.w, I'm ok with ignoring your fusion repo until such time as 2.20 enters stable. The latest git builds are very stable for me. I can live without a few updates for a few weeks.

Guys, can you test the packages now. Should all be built on the proper libwnck now.

thanks nesl, all seems to be well.

Is it possible to have a separate repo for those of us using gnome 2.19? This would aid in testing. Thanks

I'm having a program with logging out of XFCE4. I'm left with only wallpaper and mouse pointer (I can move it) but the keyboard is dead. After reset some settings (i.e. FF boomarks) are often gone. I'm using the nvidia 100.14.11-4 driver package. Is it a known issue?

vitalstatistix: I'll think about readding a 2.19 version of compiz/compiz-kde and emerald packages.

Alex, thanks very much for this! I installed CF and it's working fine here.

When I run "compiz --replace" it says there are no manageable screens. AIGLX is enabled, I can see it in my logs, composite and such is enabled and all the ATI options I need are enabled too.
If I run "fusion-icon" my computer completely freezes, does anyone have any idea of what I can do to solve this? I can provide any logs you need
Thanks.
EDIT: compiz-fusion was working a few months ago but seince I have last updated it hasent been working.

Hi.
Well I updated compiz-fusion today using 64 bit repo and got this error:

But despite the above, everything seems to be working just fine (for now).

Just ignore that error. It comes from the fact that the upstream gconf schemas are not designed properly, and the gconf-merge tool being called on those improper schemas.

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up, nesl247! Had me worried quite a while there.

Tried it just now.
Uninstalled Beryl 0.2.1 and installed it.
Everything is working fine.
The only thing is I cannot rotate the cube.
Am I missing a specific setting somewhere?
Rotation initiation should happen with Ctrl+Alt+Left-Click.
Offline
Cube rotate is indeed an option that you have to toggle. I believe it's not turned on by default in CF.
Offline
I found the required setting.
I had to set in general options 4 desktops in the horizontal axe.
But now I have another problem.
Since I installed compiz-fusion, my keyboard is completely non-responsive when in Gnome.
Unloading compiz-fusion or even uninstalling it did not fix the problem.
So I restored my system to a previous backup.

Where'd the raise/lower window keybindings go? I used to have them in my old Beryl 2.1 install. I see raise and lower window mouse bindings, but no keyboard bindings? I've tried using advanced search and I'm not getting any love on "raise" other than pointing me back to the mouse bindings to raise/lower windows.
Thanks for the repo! Very handy not to have to compile it all myself... (used to used gentoo, quit after too much portage breakage)

Any update? It seems that 3D windows are finally working better (www.opencompositing.org) and GNOME 2.20 is now in testing (and because of that, I'm suffering again of the libwnck issue with Emerald, but this time, symlinking back to previous libwnck release worked).

sickhate, check the Compiz Fusion wiki for a workaround... you have to run the gtk-icon-cache tool..
