Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

I'm having some problems with this repo. I can't download anything from here automatically, pacman shows me whole content of this repo but that's all. I had to block pacget in my pacman.conf because of getting numerous times (for every archive) error "specify at least one URL". After this nothing happens so the only way to update compiz is download each package manually.

Anyone experienced similar problems?

Guys, the server will be up sometime today, hopefully soon. I'm sorry for the downtime. This shouldn't happen again though, as certain arrangements have been made to fund the server. Though donations are always welcome.

And as for all the offers for space and bandwidth. I might contact one of you in regards to setting up a backup mirror in case this happens again, which it shouldn't.

Thank you!

Message from yesterday and packages are also updated.

I've tested this myself, and a few others have updated, you are the only one to report such an issue.

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

I updated Sunday afternoon and got some new plugins (Thanks nesl247) so I'm like a kid with new toys :-)

Mind you I had to update soon I'd nearly run out of valium to calm my nerves while waiting ;-)

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

I've added the compiz fusion 0.5.2 release into the repo. In order to use it, I had to make some changes. So here's what everyone needs to do:

pacman -R compiz fusion compiz-git (compiz-fusion-extra) - -extra is only if you installed it, it's optional stuff
pacman -Sy

Now for 0.5.2, the group is compiz-fusion. For git, it's compiz-fusion-git.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

So, to my understanding, the compiz-fusion package gets updated at every stable version?

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

That's what it looks like is going to happen now (every compiz release, new fusion packages will be available). Oh, I forgot to say before but the 0.5.2 release *shouldn't* need libx11-xcb, just the standard libx11.

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

Will the packages be updated? At the moment, it's exactly this dependency, which keeps me from updating my system.

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

I can't reproduce, nor understand what is causing the issue. I've tested this a few times. Make sure you have removed all of compiz-fusion git packages before you do anything.

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

Hm, interesting enough I needed to install libx11-xcb otherwise neither fusion-icon nor kde-decorator would start. At first I just updated the packages, then later removed and updated but it used the same files in cache. Well, who knows, it works either way.

Anyone using KDE knows how to make the taskbar not show the windows from all viewports? (Without changing to desktops instead os viewports of course smile

I guess I did not read close enough.  After a ton of tinkering, I finally figured out that I had to do a:

# pacman -Sy compiz-fusion-git

That is after I removed the old version of compiz fusion.  I also update the wiki http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Compiz_fusion.

I was pretty sure I read close enough. Guess I don't understand what releasing the non-git version was for. Is it supposed to work, or do we have to always assume only the git version is going to function properly?

What I interpreted from all these new posts, including and following DarkJesus' announcement / link of the "first release" of Compiz-Fusion, was that the non-git version was in working order.

That was certainly not the case for me ... and others it seems. The non-git version would not use any window decorations, even when explicitly launched. I had to uninstall it and use the git version. And of course with that, you have no choice but to use libx11-xcb.

It's possible I could have just installed the libx11-xcb along with the non-git version, but I didn't want to mess around anymore so I just went with the tried and true git.

Again, can someone clear up whether we were even supposed to attempt installation of the non-git version?

Anyway, thanks for providing the updates and the repos.

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

Problem with upgrading is solved smile
The cause of my issues was the script used for downloading system updates called "pacget". Now is replaced by wget in my pacman.conf file and all works fine wink

Thank you all for attention and support

P.S. What's the difference between git & non-git packages?

Hi, I have some problem with compiz, when I drag an item in Konqueror, the dragged icon turned into white color. Anyone having the same problem? And is there a way to fix it?

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

I'm having issues with the x86_64 repo. Seems libx11-xcb is missing. No version that doesn't use this library is in the 64-bit repo.

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

You haven't missed anything, there is no release of fusion-icon. And iBertus, x86_64 isn't updated for a while if I recall.

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

I compiled libx11 with xcb support and the latest git is working. Just a matter of pulling the PKGBUILDs and rebuilding.

Re: Compiz Fusion Repository

the packages does seem to be missing in x64.  When i try to rebuild it with the pkgbuild, I get

-> Found libX11-1.1.3.tar.bz2 in build dir
==> ERROR: 012_en_US.UTF-8 was not found in the build directory and is not a proper URL.
