What would be better, setting up the DHCP or following Misfit138's advice? (I am able of setting up the DHCP)

Use whatever works.
I have personally run into a lag issue with a cable modem setup in the past. The cable ISP used DHCP from ISP to the cable modem. Then the cable modem handed out DHCP 192 ips to my router, and then my router handed out 192 ips to my PC. (All through DHCP.)
My suggestion is based on the assumption that you were using static IP from router to PC...but use whatever works. I prefer static ip simply because I am used to doing it that way, but use whatever is appropriate for what you got going on.
