There's talk of adding an optional SDI interface for 2.6. I don't think that most to any of the Gimp devs actually want such a thing, but it is one of the bigger criticisms of Gimp.

All work for me. but one thing is annoying. The name in the desktop file is too long.
This name is used by f-spot for rename new version of a picture : 20070909_0051.jpg come 20070909_0051 (Modifiée dans GNU Image Manipulation Programme).jpg 
I sovle this by changing the /usr/share/applications/gimp.desktop .
Maybe use a more short name ?
