Re: [solved] problem with flash after update today

Hi again,

A much more crude solution, though it might be easier in the end, would be to temporally copy the correct (64bit) version of libz.so.1.2.3 (libz.so.1 is just a symbolic link that points to libz.so.1.2.3 - you might have to check if the link is correct after copying) to /lib directory.  Naturally you'd need to obtain the correct version somehow... I've uploaded it for you just in case (link) since I won't be at my 64bit machine until much later today.  That would hopefully enable you to use pacman again so that you could reinstall the zlib package.

just did that and it worked without a problem. After having updated my zlib package I reinstalled lib32-zlib ..... and I noticed that I really installed zlib-1.2.3 instead of lib32-zlib-1.2.3..... roll But now it works like a charm.
Quite embarrassing! wall.gif

Thanks for your help then, and I'll recommend you further! wink

Re: [solved] problem with flash after update today

You can use pacman.static for this cases where pacman isn't running any more because of an upgrade.

edit: Just noticed that from today (at least concerning the mirror I use) a working version of lib32-zlib is in community repo [1.2.3-2.1]. So pacman -Syu should do the trick from now.

I'm glad it worked out smile  But harlekin is also right, of course, about pacman.static - so keep his suggestion in mind for future reference (I will as well)...

...one update bug that killed my Opera, Skype and Flash, some hours later some workarounds, one day later an official update solving the problem. My respect gentlemen, you just further increased my trusting in Arch Linux!

I have two Arch64 computers.  When I upgraded the first one on Saturday Night, it broke Flash/nspluginwrapper.  I fixed it using the PKGBUILDs from tanis.  Thank you tanis by the way.  I read the above post saying that pacman -Syu should do the trick from now on.  Having read that, I did a pacman -Syu on the 2nd Arch64 computer.  After the upgrade, Flash/nspluginwrapper was broke.  So I ran the PKGBUILD for lib32-pcre that tanis supplied and Flash started working again.

So, besides the community update for lib32-zlib, we also need a community update for lib32-pcre.

Re: [solved] problem with flash after update today

Nspluginwrapper updated, .5 introduced new depency, pcre that was missing, for some reason it affected .4 series too.
zlib issue was caused by old PKGBUILD (as you noticed).
Bit hurry here due to BIG swedish exam.
Might take soem time untill lib32-pcre is ain all mirrors.
Remeber to update plugins on nspluginwrapper update.
Cheers

Why should I post anything?
I provided working PKGBUILDs and now the problem is also solved in official repos...
