i have uploaded a new snapshot to testing. first for x86_64. i686 will follow later done by another developer. it's now version 2.3.0 RC1. you can find the changelog there: http://development.openoffice.org/relea … .0rc1.html
we make use of system agg pkg now. menu entries should be fixed now.
we have reenabled some wizards in the menu known to be broken. some OOo developers wanted to have a look at it. they will be removed again when it cannot be fixed.
i will probably build langpacks for the next and maybe final release candidate (m4). still interested what's going on? http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wik … us_Minutes
keep testing!

OOo 2.3.0 -m5 build = RC3 has been uploaded to the repos. Some remaining upstream showstoppers have been fixed: http://development.openoffice.org/relea … .0rc3.html
finally we can offer now the last two remaining wizards for installing fonts and dictionaries. please test if they work.

The "no-mozilla-plug-in-option_oog680_m1.diff" patch name is misleading.
This patch does NOT prevent it from being built (check the package file list for nsplugin & libnpsoplugin.so).
What it does is to remove the option to enable/disable the plugin. And it is enabled by default...
So, if your intent is not to build the mozilla plugin, you should put --disable-mozilla in the configure options.

I just want to say I love it. Just installed and it starts up almost instantly. Almost just has fast as firefox!!!

final packages has already hit our mirrors. the x86_64 pkg upload was broken. i had to reupload it. now it should work. have fun using it and keep on reporting bugs to flyspray and OOo issuezilla to make it the best office suite out there!

i upgraded my oo with the x86_64 pkg and it passed the integrity check but there is no soffice in /usr/bin and the /opt/openoffice/programs folder does not exist.
manually untaring the pkg fails after some files...
We can't stop here! This is bat country!!

wait until the mirrors get the new reuploaded pkg. remove your pkg from pkg chache.

Wow! I just updated, and it starts very very fast! With the older versions, every time I would open a document it would be very slow, it was one of those things I figured I would have to live with... Now it is almost instantaneous, very glad to see this.
Thank you for all those responsible for making it available to ArchLinux!

Yeah, I noticed the speed difference too. It seems to open from cold-start very quickly. This was always a problem with old OOo.

It's time to test the next OpenOffice release. 2.3.1 rc1 is in testing for both architectures. No langpacks so far. Give it a go!

time again to test OOo again. 2.4rc1 has hit testing for both arches. give it a try.

I installed this one yesterday on x86_64 and I can't believe how fast it started up. I thought 2.3 was starting fast and 2.4 is way better than that.

It doesn't work here, testing 686.
I tried to open several files (several .doc .pdf and .txt), and it's always the same. ooo has 100 % cpu usage and doesn't display anything.
The only thing I get in the terminal is this :
(process:21937): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: gtype.c:2242: initia
lization assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this
function
(process:21937): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion
`initialization_value != 0' failed
(process:21937): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_new: assert
ion `G_TYPE_IS_OBJECT (object_type)' failed
Edit : Sorry, it works fine after setting : export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome
I just checked again, 2.3 did work fine without it, even though the post install message asked to set it.
Now it must be set in any cases.

I don't have it set at all. I guess you use a certain combination of desktop/theme that causes the issue.

I am not using any desktop and didn't configure any theme. That might be the problem
I am using dwm so it doesn't do anything special, and I didn't configure anything related to gtk/gnome or qt/kde.
After setting OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome, it uses the default gtk theme and works nicely.

time again to test OOo again. 2.4rc1 has hit testing for both arches. give it a try.
without this: export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome
it hangs, although I'm using kde
soffice
(process:10181): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: gtype.c:2242: initialization assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this function
(process:10181): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed
(process:10181): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_new: assertion `G_TYPE_IS_OBJECT (object_type)' failed
so this one: export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde
does not make it working
I suppose there is kind of error there but 2.4 is quite nice apart from this

Thank you. It is working now.

I have the strange problem that the File-Mainmenu gets opened randomly when using OpenOffice. It is very annoying and makes it almost unusable, because you are interrupted in typing. Any guess?
