Re: GNOME 2.19 packages available (i686 only)

I don't think there is an official gnome print configuration utility. And as hussam said, I think they are moving to gtk-print, and that 2.20 was the start of no use for libgnomeprint(ui).

You could either use gnome-cups-manager or system-config-printer (used in ubuntu 7.10, and fedora).

I started getting a crash with F-Spot after updating to GNOME 2.20.  I'm not certain if this is caused by the new packages or not, so any help would be appreciated.

hmm, I also get a lot of errors/warnings when starting f-spot after the update, but the program itself seems to run just fine..

Re: GNOME 2.19 packages available (i686 only)

Woops, I had removed libgnomeprintui from my system and its apparently requirement of f-spot.  Has this package been removed as a requirement of GNOME 2.20?  If so you may want to add it on for F-Spot, otherwise we're going to have some problems..

Re: GNOME 2.19 packages available (i686 only)

Downgrading to gnome 2.18 fixes all problems with sound in games and sound server. Also suddenly clock applet gave oafid error and would not work in 2.20.

Gnome 2.20 as it is today - no thanks!

The reason clock wouldn't work is related to this: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/8172?ope … ring=&type[]=&sev[]=&due[]=&dev=&cat[]=&status[]=open&order=&sort=&percent[]=&search_in_comments=&search_for_all=&reported[]=&only_primary=&only_watched=

So, am I the only one with the Java problem I mentioned earlier ?

Is it normal that I can't have the native Java API System Tray support working with this version of gnome ? I have not tried with previous versions, but according to what I've read, it should work correctly.

Nope. I can't use Eclipse in Gnome 2.20. I've got Arch with Gnome 2.20 and Ubuntu Gutsy with 2.20 and both give the same errors when running Eclipse. Highly annoying and I really miss Subclipse right now.

Re: GNOME 2.19 packages available (i686 only)

I was actually referring to the bug regarding the system tray. As for Eclipse, I found a workaround. I found a similar thread in some forum (ubuntu I think) and people said they where having this problem when they move their mouse over the opened document tabs. I realized that my Eclipse crashed for this exact reason. So basically, I now switch opened document with ctrl+shift+F6 and close a document with ctrl+w instead of interacting with the tabs. It's working for me.

K, but still gnome 2.20 is not ready to be used - there are gstreamer problems with the games and sound server probs and only God knows what all kinds of bugs there are.

Any way 2.20 just adds some eye candy, as I see it, and it is as usual, with all gnome versions, pre-released. I will wait patiently for it to get stable, as I rely on gnome as my sole wm and cannot afford to be a guinea pig smile

Good luck - maybe for Xmas it will work as good as 2.18 does.

I don't know what problems you're having, but I haven't run into any bugs like that, or any that I can think of.

My exact problem is that in Java, SystemTray.isSupported() always return false. It should return true since I'm running Gnome and Metacity (http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bu … id=6438179). I did not try with other version of gnome prior to 2.20, but according to everything I've read, it should work.

Re: GNOME 2.19 packages available (i686 only)

If it is of any interest to anybody, I found why I could not get Java System tray working in gnome 2.20 (it was actually not working in any wm). It was because of a config tweak I had to make in order for LimeWire to work with Beryl. This line in my .bashrc was the cause :

export AWT_TOOLKIT=MToolkit

replacing "MToolkit" with blank or simply deleting the line solves the problem.

Re: GNOME 2.19 packages available (i686 only)

Has anybody successfully built Gnome 2.20 on X86_64?

If yes, where can I find the order in which the packages should be built?

I can get the PKGBUILDs from abs testing.

Re: GNOME 2.19 packages available (i686 only)

seems only alsa-lib and alsa-utils from testing works - maybe these packages should also be uploaded to extra. Esd is a complete mess. Otherwise it is quite ok, although not as good as 2.18.
