Been using Arch for about two months now, and this is my first screenshots thread. I've got a couple questions, if someone wouldn't mind answering:
1. Where do some of you get the script that (apparantly) automatically takes a screenshot? I found one, but I can't seem to find any others.
2. Is it possible to get real terminal transparency without using Compiz? I've been playing around with Openbox, but I miss this feature.
Anyway, here's screenshots for my Openbox setup and my KDE/Compiz-Fusion setup:

What's the name of editor you are using?
It's my project Textadept (Not released yet...)

1. pacman -S scrot
2. Yeah, I am using gnome with real transparency now with compiz-fusion.

that's a pretty sharp background image, thayer.
I've seen young people waste their time reading books about sensitive vampires. It's kinda sad. But you say it's not the end of the world... Well, maybe it is!

Yes, but you still need some sort of compositing manager (xcompmgr, XFCE's, I think OB even has one now, as of 3.4)

Heh. Looks really great. Could you provide a few details? Well, just which WM you're using and why you're using the fancy app start applet? (:
Btw.: You should have used this link: http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/1715 … 050oo7.png *scnr*
I just see, you're actually not using a tiling WM? Or why is the browser and the terminal underneath overlapping?

1. As mentioned, scrot. Additionally I aliased sshot with "cd ~/screenshots; scrot -q 100 -d 5" in .bashrc so its placed where i want it.
2. You can use xcompmgr. When its running you can start urxvt with -depth 32 -bg rgba:0000/0000/0000/cccc for example.

@YoungGods: Nice wallpaper there, it goes well with your color scheme. Do you mind sharing it?

There's info in the screenshot in one of the terminal windows. The window manager is Openbox, and I'm using the dock simply because I like OSX-style docks, and this one comes close. I don't actually use it much... mostly just for the systray.

Nope, not a tiling WM. I kind of got sick of tiling WMs since they cause more problems than they solve. I love the features of wmii where you can get apps to launch with specific tags and such, but there are just too many problems with various GUI apps (like firefox, and even mplayer -fs). I'm not sure if it's the WM at fault or whether the apps just don't comply to standards, but it's too annoying.

Or in openbox you can just right click the window and click "undecorate"
