Hi rasat,

Just to let you know, ddcxinfo-arch seems a little old and worn out. On my machines it doesn't manage to fetch the monitor information. I have filed a bug report ( FS#9589), including a replacement in the form of ddcxinfo-knoppix, which seems to work. There are some problems with names and versions here. The best way might be to replace ddcxinfo-arch by ddcxinfo-knoppix, but then you would need to change your package slightly.

There are a "bug" in this line :
find /sys/devices/pci0000:00 -name uevent | xargs grep -wi PCI_ID=$VendDev | sed 's/:PCI/ /g' | awk '{print $1}' > /tmp/dump.hwd
If the name of file contains a white space, find don't convert space into "\ "
For example if i run:
[root@barabba ~]$ find /sys/devices/pci0000:00 -name uevent
One of result lines are:
/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.6/1-1:unknown codec/uevent
Beetween "unknown" and "codec" there isn't a "\ " string, for this reason grep fails.
The output of "hwd -e" is:

Please print the full directory string, from /sys to codec/uevent, for me to understand what's the problem. Example: "/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.2/host1/target1:0:0/1:0:0:0/uevent".

I am still maintaining hwd but not lshwd. The lshwd was maintained by z4ziggy but stopped long time ago. In hwd version 5.0, lshwd was replaced with pciutils and usbutils.

The bugs in hwd when using grep and sed and unexpected directory strings are found like in jeimslalagna. One of the reasons why hwd is still in demand is the auto x config for live CD and x and info for newbies.

I found an easy method to solve this bug in "find" documentation.
With the option -print0 the find command separates the output with 0 (non printable zero char) and not with \n char.
xargs can take parameters separated by a "zero char" with -0 option.
This seems to solve the problem...

substitute this line:

find /sys/devices/pci0000:00 -name uevent | xargs grep -wi PCI_ID=$VendDev | sed 's/:PCI/ /g' | awk '{print $1}' > /tmp/dump.hwd

with this:

find /sys/devices/pci0000:00 -name uevent -print0| xargs -0 grep -wi PCI_ID=$VendDev | sed 's/:PCI/ /g' | awk '{print $1}' > /tmp/dump.hwd
